Work on local history: "The ship masters"
In a school Museum we learned that the best ship artists of our country in XVII-XVIII centuries were in Dedinovo. About our fellow villagers wrote then: "... Experts, sire, such and Industrialists on a water course, except those villages (Dedinovo, Catcher, Beloomut and Lubitschi) the peasants, nor in which cities and monasteries...". They participated in the most important events for the construction of river ships in Central Russia, taught this to the case of people from other places. It is not surprising that in Dedinovo was placed in the first state shipbuilding shipyard for the construction of marine vessels. Here, at the walls of Trinity Church, was installed in a model plane (to follow others), made with the participation of Peter I, and Dedinovo has become a reference center of the river shipbuilding.
Intrigued by this question, we visited Museum in Dedinovo. There he saw models of river ships, as well as the magnificent model of a ship "eagle". All these products are manufactured by our countryman Pivovarov V. N.
In the Museum, our attention was drawn boats. In Dedinovo boats are not uncommon, they generally can be found in the spring, summer and autumn on the Oka and Roika, and in winter in yards. But it turned out that these boats represent a rare type of block river vessels, already vanished on other rivers and lakes of Russia. In the Museum we were informed that now and in the village there is a wonderful ship masters, and among others named Shustov A. V., Pivovarov, V. N. We really wanted to visit them and get acquainted with the work of these ship masters.
Shustov Alexander lives on Kubyshkin -street. He worked as a farm mechanic.Lenin. His boats are considered the best in Dedinovo.
During our meeting, he is using photos of a family album had in his yard and billet boats, gave us a master class, telling and showing how a boat is born.
We have carefully reviewed all these materials and made sure that the boat as the ship block consists of 11 parts: 2 halves, bottom boards, 4 cheeks, 2 breakwaters (spikes) and 2 printed cloth boards. Then the whole construction is contracted, stitched nails, caulk and the seams are sealed then the bird cherry-vine, and held together by staples.
Block the boat has a large carrying capacity and stability. For a long service life, it regularly dry and smoke.
Then our path lay in a Fox-Hole, where lives the master Viktor Nikolaevich. Among the professions, which he owns, there are those that allow him to produce beautiful wood products. Viktor was the better Turner and Carver gift company "Luhlama", was a carpenter at the farm "Dedinovo".
He received us in his farm, showed the Studio where he makes parts of canoes and boats, as well as models of wooden ships. At that time he was in there 2 models – wooden boat and the boat is a Gentile.
Third, the model of the ship "eagle", was not finished. However, considering we've seen a lot: the differences of the keel of a marine vessel from flat-bottomed river, the skeleton of the ship – set, the important details of the set – frames, beams, stringers.
Viktor said that they made boats exhibited in the Museum "Lodeinoe pole" in Kaliningrad, in a Museum in France. One of his canoes we saw at the celebration of the Russian flag in August 2015.
Both masters were glad to see us and invited us to visit these places Dedenova where ships are born. Viktor also promised to take us out for open the channel on these canoes and boats. In the summer we are sure to meet ship masters again.
