Урок английского языка по теме Традиционные праздники Великобритании (Halloween) (7 классы)

Цель урока: Познакомить учащихся с обычаями и традициями празднования Хэллоуина в англоязычных странах.
Образовательные задачи: ознакомить учащихся с новым страноведческим материалом,  ознакомить с новой лексикой по теме и тренировать ее употребление  в различных ситуациях общения.
Развивающие задачи: развивать навыки диалогической и монологической речи,  стимулировать познавательную активность учащихся,  развивать творческое мышление и инициативу.
Воспитательные задачи: воспитывать у учащихся интерес к английскому языку, уважение к культуре и традициям стран изучаемого языка, воспитывать умение работать в коллективе.
Оборудование: компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, интерактивная доска, символы праздника Хэллоуин, карточки с заданиями.
ХОД УРОКА
I. Оргмомент
Дети заходят в костюмах нечистой силы, садятся на стулья. Кабинет оформлен довольно мрачно, но не страшно: тёмные шторы на окнах с прикреплёнными вырезанными из бумаги фигурами привидений, летающих ведьм. На видном месте стоит тыква со свечой внутри. В углах можно повесить паутины из пряжи, пауков.
II. Вступительное слово учителя
– Hello, Boys and Girls! What season is it today? (Autumn) 
– What date is it today and what date will it be tomorow? (Today is the 30th of October and tomorrow it will be The 31st of October). 
– Do you know what holliday English people usually celebrate on the 31st of October? (Halloween).  – Could you make this word out off these letters? (Буквы прикреплены на доске в хаотичном порядке, ученики по очереди выходят к доске и располагают буквы так, чтобы получилось слово HALLOWEEN).– Today we are going to have a project lesson. We’ll learn much about Halloween, we’ll learn some new information about Halloween, read poems and even play some games. Let’s start then. 
– And now I’d like to invite some mystical creatures to begin our lesson.

It’s Halloween! It’s Halloween!The moon is full and bright.And we shall see what can’t be seenOn any other night!
Skeletons and ghosts and ghoulsGrinning goblins fighting duelsWerewolves rising from their tombs,Witches on their magic brooms.
In masks and gowns we haunt the streetAnd knock on doors for trick or treat.Tonight we are the king and queen,For oh... tonight it’s Halloween!
III.
– Do you know any mystical creatures? Look at the blackboard. Let’s read the following words. Translate them. Now match these words with the pictures on the blackboard. (Закрепление лексики. На доске картинки с изображением разной нечисти и атрибутов, связанных с праздником. Соединяют слова и картинки активной лексики, закрепляют структуру « I'm afraid of» )
– Are you afraid of different mystical creatures? ( На доске –  I'm afraid of….)  Can you continue the sentence? These pictures will help you!

IV. Now let's make two teams: ghosts and witches. (Рассчитатьcя по порядку на ghost/witch (привидения и ведьмы), образуя две команды)
1) The first task for the teams is to find the words (from the cards) in the grid as fast as possible. (Первое задание для команд – найти слова в таблице, на карточках)

2) A Spooky Poem.
There are very many traditional Halloween songs and poems.
Trick or treat, trick or treat,Give us something good to eat.Give us candy, give us cake,Give us something sweet to take.Give us cookies, fruits and gum,Hurry up and give us some.You had better do it quickOr we’ll surely play a trick.Trick or treat, trick or treatGive us something good to eat.

I propose you to become a spooky poet. Make a poem out off these lines. (Я предлагаю вам стать поэтом-сочинителем стихов-страшилок. Кто быстрее составляют  четверостишия и приклеивают на плака. Каждой команде по одному четверостишию).
3) – What do you know about the history of this holiday (presentation)? Дети рассказывают то, что они знают, зачитывают то, что нашли в Интернете.
– Now let’s have a look on our whiteboard and read and translate some information in English.(Читают  информацию со слайдов презентации на английском языке, затем учитель диагностирует уровень понимания, задавая вопросы участникам команд, и раздает баллы за правильные ответы . Слайды 1-6)
– Now you should complete the text (on the card) about Halloween filling in the necessary information from our text.
(Prompts: October, pumpkins, chocolate, Eve, 99%, food , witches, children, Great Britain, costumes, the Celts, New Year, oldest, winter, ghosts, the 5th century)
Halloween is one of the ... festivals in Great Britain. Halloween is celebrated on ... 31st. The full name of the festival is “All Hallows ...”. About ... of pumpkins sold in Britain are used as lamps at Halloween. Everything started a very long time ago, in ..., in the place where today is ... and Northern France. At that time ... lived there and they celebrated ... with a festival called “Samhain” on November 1st. It was a holiday of the end of the “Sun Season” and the start of the “Dark and Cold Season”. People made lamps of ... and candles and said: “These lamps help the sun to live in ...”.
Trick-or-Treat – many years ago to keep ... and ... away from their houses on Halloween, people placed plates of ... outside their homes to appease all evil spirits. And now British ... put on their... and from door to door in the evening saying: “Trick or Treat”. And people give them ... and sweets.

4)  – Witches dance. A break. (Танец Ведьмы)
По 4 участника из каждой команды образуют круг, под музыку начинают передавать друг другу magic broom. (Волшебную метлу, в данном случае – два веника). Как только музыка останавливается тот, у кого в руках остался веник выполняет задание ведущего. E.g. show me a witch, a skeleton, … (изобрази ведьму, вампира и т.д.)
5)  – Now I suggest that you should guess my riddles.
She always flies on her magic broom,She always flies around the moonWith a black hat on her head And what do you think, who is that?(a witch)
It means bad luck, don’t look at itIf it crosses your pathAnd what do you think we call it?(a black cat)

6)    – Now let’s play some traditional English games for Halloween.
Игра «Достань яблоко». Наполнены две чаши с водой. Ребятам нужно достать яблоко без помощи рук.
The first one is “Bobbing for apples”. Apples are in the bowls with water. Let someone try to catch an apple with the teeth. Don’t use your hands. I need two persons for this game.  
Игра «Мумия». Для конкурса понадобится реквизит: два-три рулона туалетной бумаги. В каждой команде – два игрока. Первый игрок должен обернуть второго туалетной бумагой так, чтобы он стал похож на мумию.
Сделать это нужно быстро и аккуратно.
Now let’s make another two monsters together. I’ve got three toilet rolls. And I need 6 persons. You are a mummy /ˈmʌmi/. You are a mummy maker. Do it as fast as you can. The audience will help us to name the winner. Ready! Steady! Go!
