To organize learner’s to be ready for the new theme
Brainstorming: Teacher should show the class any maps or pictures of Australia. And pupils should point out Sydney on a map.
Presentation: T should give these words: Australian, barbecue, celebration, dictionary, farmer, gold mine, grape, lorry, melon, role play, south, sugar cane, text, train, design, fish, kill, meat, prepare, easy.
Group work: P should look at the pictures of the restaurants and they imagine they are in Sydney. Then ask: Which restaurants do they go in? Why? Pupils work in small groups, look at the pictures of the restaurants, decide which one they would go in and justify their choice. Collect in pupils’ answers on the board and ask them to explain their choice.
Extra idea: Pupils work in pairs. Pupils copy a text into their notebooks. One pupil copies text 1 and leaves gaps for the verbs. They then exchange books and fill in the spaces. EVALUATE
