Aims:
Educational: to practise reading for gist, for specific information and for detailed information
Upbringing: to introduce an English festival
Practical: to raise PP awareness of the technique of remembering words by looking for pairs e.g. king and queen, or opposites e.g. young/old
Developing: to develop pupils’ writing, speaking, reading, listening skills.
Vocabulary:

Methods: Working in groups and in pairs, individual working.
Aids: blackboard, lap top, pictures, notebook, book, question cards.

Warming up.
I prepared one game which named “Find the same and say”.
You should find 2 similar pictures, say what is it then stick backward side.
Pupils understand what will you do?
You get one flower for your right answer.
At the end of the lesson we’ll find a boy & girl who more gathered flowers this pupil will be the May king and May queen.

I. Pre-activity.
Look at the white board you see some words with transcriptions. You should write & find translation from your map case. I give you 5 minutes.

Activity 1.
Objective: to prepare for the next activity
Who is read the task pupils?
Look and answer.
1. Who do you see in the picture?
2. What colour are the girls’ dresses?
3. What are the girls doing?
4. What season is it?
5. What country is it?
Activity 2a. Read and choose a title.
Objective: reading for gist PP read the text silently. As usual help them with the words marked by an asterisk (*). Then PP should choose the most suitable title.
May Day is a holiday in England. On May Day young people pick flowers and put them in their homes. They sing spring songs and choose a May king and May queen and give them crowns of spring flowers. Children dance round a maypole with coloured ribbons. The ribbons make a bright picture on the maypole. But not a lot of people do it now.
Did you take any new information? And now choose the title.

Objective: to raise PP awareness about words with opposite meaning and pairs of words PP should make pairs of words opposite in meaning or pairs e.g. king and queen.

Pupils you should give true sentences instead of the false ones. e.g. May Day isn’t a holiday in India. Or - May Day is a holiday in England.

5.Giving home works. And now write down your home task. It will be to learn by heart vocabulary words. Exercise 1.page 141 Find eight words. Write and translate them. E.g. young-yosh
6. Giving marks. Now be in time of choosing our queen and king. Pupils count your flowers.
