IntroductionWe are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. We can fight only by showing an equally strong bond of friendship and trust. Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
You can call me a bookworm! I enjoy reading books, absolutely adore reading fantasy novels, that’s why I made up my mind to undertake research based on JK Rowling books.
My research work has the title “The World of Harry Potter”.
Goals and objectives of the study are the following:
To explore the world of the young wizard Harry Potter:
To investigate thoroughly the biography of J.K. Rowling- the author of Harry Potter book series;
To analyze how many and what kind of books are published about Harry Potter;
To find out what films are based on the book about the young wizard;
To give description of the information which can be found on the Internet;
To study whether there are any computer games based on Harry Potter and his friends adventures;
To research what my classmates know about Harry Potter.
The study is based on the Internet resources, questionnaire survey conducted among classmates, mass media information.
Methods:
- Review, Analysis, Comparison.
Study Subject:
- JK Rowling's novels about Harry Potter.
- Questionnaires of 7b graders.
The relevance of this work
What answer do you expect to hear from a modern student of 5-7 grades, if you ask him what classic literature is? He will probably recall in his mind the names of Pushkin and Turgenev. Maybe he even remembers someone who the teacher in the classroom has spoken about. In this case, that can be right.
But recently some books have appeared which the whole reading world discusses. The purpose of my work is to show the relevance of works by JK Rowling, who wrote the most famous book of our time - series of novels about Harry Potter. The relevance of this work is no doubt.
Almost half of the world is watching with bated breath the adventures of a young magician. He himself, a legend in his lifetime, gets out of new dangerous adventures with enviable persistence. There are seven incredible books published about "the boy who lived" and eight fantasy films distributed by Warner Bros. Last year was remarkable for publishing one more book "Harry Potter and the cursed child" and releasing a film "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them».
I believe my research will attract students’ attention to novels about Harry Potter and help them better understand the issues of friendship and loyalty. I am sure that after reading about Harry and his friends’ adventures, the student will learn how to discern good and bad, and will never commit evil.
Chapter 1. Questionnaire survey During my research I read some Harry Potter books and studied the biography of this English writer.
Within the scope of a project I have learnt who Harry Potter is, and have also stated that my classmates are aware of this magical hero.
7-B graders were asked three questions:
- Do you know who Harry Potter is?
- Would you like to be like Harry Potter?
- Would you like Harry to be your friend?
The results of the survey indicate that all my classmates (100%) know who Harry Potter is.
67% of students noted that they would like to be like Harry.
78% of them would like to be friends with the young wizard.
They are attracted by the courage of a hero, his anxiety for knowledge, his ability to make friends and fight evil. Author of the book convinces us all the time that our lives are in our hands, and what life will be depends only on us.
Since 2001 Warner Bros. Pictures has begun releasing adaptations of the Harry Potter books. These films have proven to be very popular and, in less than a decade, the Harry Potter film series has become the highest-grossing motion picture series in history. To date, eight films have been released and four more (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them) have been announced.

What about Rowling, she herself has lived a "rags to riches" life story, in which she progressed from living on state benefits to multi-millionaire status within five years. She is the United Kingdom's best-selling living author, with sales in excess of £238M. The 2016 Sunday Times Rich List estimated Rowling's fortune at £600 million, ranking her as the joint 197th richest person in the UK.
After questioning students of 7B grade, I found that 96% of children watched movies based on the novels by JK Rowling and 92% of the children answered that they enjoyed these films.
Chapter 2. Online Resources for Harry Potter fans and admirersI learned from the Internet that the popularity of books and movies is so great that there is a site of "Harry Potter" and the leading actor in the film, Daniel Radcliffe - the rich young man who lives in UK.
Internet resources for lovers and fans of Harry Potter consist of six sites:

hpclub.ru - Harry Potter club - book readers’ communication centre.
PotterRus - Russian portal about Harry Potter. Regular news updates, photo galleries. Translations of books. Reviews of the movies. Wallpapers, Fanfics, Fanart, Soundtracks from Harry Potter films and more.

During the study, I have discovered that there are computer games based on novels by Rowling. The first game appeared in 2001, now there are seven of them.

After questioning my classmates, I found out that 64% of children play computer games based on novels by JK Rowling.
ConclusionPerhaps the author of the book did not say anything particularly outstanding and new. JK Rowling, like many of her predecessors, considers that a truly talented man will never be able to do something mean, evil is always punished, and man can never buy love and friendship. And even if these books do not teach magic, they show how to be human.
JK Rowling wrote: “... In fact, this book is about the power of imagination and self-understanding. Harry, first of all, learns to use the abilities and skills that he has. Witchcraft is only metaphor that I use.”
After studying this interesting problem, I learned more about the life and work of the famous British writer JK Rowling, and made the following conclusions:
1. 7 books about the fate of Harry Potter and some other interesting books about the wizarding world, connected with the boy’s story are published.
2. 8 feature films based on this magical story are successfully released.
3. There are sites of Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe on the Internet.
4. 7 games are created.
5. All my classmates know who Harry Potter is and enjoy watching movies about him and his wonderful brave team.
Harry Potter seems to have something for everyone: romance, action, adventure, magic, friendship, school experiences, different kinds of families, sports, and humour. There is also a dash of mystery and horror, mixed with a few fantastic animals. Rowling has blended all the above elements to make a rather believable story, especially for those who wish an alternate world existed.
I hope that my research will attract many other students’ attention to the novels of JK Rowling.
