1. Introduction.
2. Warming-up.
Have you got a pet?
What is your pet like?
What can it do?
Name the domestic animals.
Name the wild animals.
What do you think, can people live without animals?
And can animals live without people?
3. Phonetic activities. Exercise 34, page 45.
Listen to the tape and repeat the words. Then read them by yourselves.
4. Lexical activities.
- Puzzle (word search). Find ten animals in this puzzle. (Key: dolphin, dog, horse, lion, mouse, wolf, fish, monkey, cat, shark).
- Exercise 15, page 26 (WB). Work in pairs and fill in the table.
- Exercise 35, page 45. Help these animals to find their homes.
5. Grammar activities.
- Let’s do exercise in this card. I’ll give you cards. Open the brackets and put the adjectives into comparative degree.
1. The desert is (big) than the field.
2. The road is (long) than the street.
3. The farm is (clean) than the city.
4. The ocean is (large) than the sea.
- Game “Compare the animals”.
6. Reading.
Exercise 41, page 46. Read the text and match its parts and pictures. (Keys: 1c, 2d, 3a, 4b).
7. Speaking.
- Exercise 43, page 47. Say what animals and people do for each other.
a) What do animals do for people?
Camels can carry things for people. Dogs can help and save people. Sheep can give clothes and food. Cows can give milk.
b) What do people do for animals?
People can make houses for birds. People feed hens and wash horses. People can take dogs for a walk.
Tell us about your favourite animal. Don’t name this animal. We’ll try to guess.
8. Listening.
Exercise 40, page 46. Listen and talk about the pet that Dima would like to have.
What animal would Dima like to have? (He would like to have a dolphin. It’s smart. Dima would like to have a dolphin. I think it’s wonderful animal. It can swim, dive and jump.)
What animal would you like to have? Why?
