Цель урока: развитие речевых навыков у учащихся по теме «Окружающая среда и влияние человека».
Задачи урока:
учебная – способствовать развитию навыков монологической речи, аудирования с различной стратегией, способствовать совершенствованию лексических и грамматических навыков по теме «Экология»;
развивающая – способствовать повышению интереса к языку, способствовать развитию способностей к умозаключению, распределению внимания, коммуникабельности, умения выражать собственное мнение, способствовать развитию языковых и познавательных способностей;
воспитательная – способствовать воспитанию потребности в практическом использовании языка, способствовать формированию уважительного отношения к природе, воспитанию бережливости и осознанию роли человека во взаимодействии с природой, способствовать формированию способности осознавать экологические проблемы и желания помочь природе;
социокультурная - познакомить с целями и задачами международных экологических организаций, привлечь интерес к проблемам окружающей среды.

Ход урока
T:Good morning, dear pupils! I’m very glad to see you!
P: Good morning, our dear teacher!
T: I prepared a motto for today, it is written on the blackboard “It’s high time to be happy!”. Before we are to start, I want you to answer one question “How you feel yourself?”
P: Ученики поднимают карточки с цифрами 1, 2, 3. (Слайд 1)
T: Look around you! There are some posters in the room. Judging by them, what is the theme of our lesson?
P: Ecological problems! (Слайд 2)
T: That’s right! We are going to talk about environment and people’s influence. But ecology covers the huge spectrum of problems. Which ones? Try to guess. (Слайд 3)
And these are just few of the environmental problems. What is the main cause of them? Who damages the planet?
P: People.
T: You’ve got the case! These are people who influence nature in the wrong way. And today we are going to discuss whether we can save the world or not.
At first let us train our tongues. They might forget about English sounds. We are going to remind them. All of you have envelopes with the phonetic signs. Using these signs we’ll play the small game. I pronounce the word; you raise up high the signs corresponding to the sounds you hear. Then repeat the word with me. (Слова вывешены на доске)

Now you’ll hear the short text. Listen to it attentively and answer the question: “What is this text about?”
Our planet is fragile. Nature and environment has already become the urgent problems. Some of our activities threaten the world's habitats and therefore the Earth's biodiversity (its range of plants and animals). We also damage the environment by polluting the land, the air, and oceans, rivers, and lakes. The balance of nature is upset by activities such as over fishing, over hunting, and cutting down too many trees. Of all species, humans have the greatest effect on the environment. One of the causes of over-activity is the sheer number of people in the world. This number is rising.
P: It is about people and environment.
T: You are absolutely right. Now listen to the text again and answer the questions: (Слайд 5)
1) What threatens the Earth?
2) Why is the balance of nature upset?
3) How do we damage the environment?
4) What’s one of the causes of people’s over-activity?
Okay. The ecological problems exist all around the world. Our town is not an exclusion. About environment in our town we can learn from the girls’ project.
P1: All of us were born in Tynda. Our town is situated in the Amur region. It has always been small and beautiful. People from big cities came here to breathe fresh air and enjoy walking along the picturesque allies. In childhood our parents could wonder among bushes of flowers and gather mushrooms. Today we have ecological problems in Tynda.
P2: We made a research on ecological problems of our town. It found out that one of the most acute is the problem of pollution with garbage. Look at these photos. This is how our town looks now. We can see dumps everywhere, even in the centre of Tynda. In spite of the fact that there is a lot of garbage bins on the Krasnaya Presnya street. People throw litter away in the public places. As a result, we live among garbage.
P3: Our group decided to encourage at least our school to be environmentally-friendly. We conducted a poll and results were shocking. 75% of pupils throw litter away and only 25% of pupils take an active part in collective garbage cleanings every year. People, it is time to stop and make a difference. (Слайд 6,7)

T: Now we know for sure that our Earth is on the verge of the ecological catastrophe. That means that we should do our best to save the world as quickly as it is possible. What is the best option for reducing pollution by garbage?
P: Recycling! (Слайд 8)
T: Certainly recycling! Only when garbage becomes new products, pollution can be reduced. Different materials are recycled into new items. What things are made from recycled materials? Look at the board and make sentences using Present Simple Passive. (Выполнение грамматического упражнения) (Слайд 9).

T: People in different countries try to pay citizens’ attention to ecological problems, to make them more environmentally-friendly. So they put special signs on different things. Where can we see these signs? (Выполнение упражнение) (Слайд 11)
On the international level there is a lot of organizations which take care of environment. Divide into two teams. One team is “crosses”, the other one is “zeros”. We play the game “crosses and zeros”. (игра «Крестики-нолики», отдельная презентация).

All these things are done on the national and international levels. But what can we do ourselves? As they say, act globally, think locally! (выступление учеников на фоне видов природы и животных).(слайд 13-20)

1. Don’t smoke.
2. Use public transport or a bike instead of a car.
3. Stop using the aerosol spray.
4. Don’t cut flowers. Plant a tree every year in the garden.
P2:
1. Buy products that are recyclable, reusable, repairable.
2. Write on both sides of paper.
3. Pick up litter as walking through the forest, use litter bins.
4. Never break glass bottles.
P3:
1) Do not leave the taps running.
2) Take shorter showers to save water.
3) Don’t throw litter into the water.
4) Don’t wash cars in the river.
P4:
1) Turn off the light when you leave the room.
2) Put on more clothing in winter instead of turning up the heater.
3) Make sure the refrigerator door is fully closed.
4) Use the clothes line rather than a dryer.
T: On the posters on the walls you can see different slogans. Work in pairs and compose some comments upon one of them. Be attentive to grammar and make up sentences from the words on the cards.
