Great Britain consists of England, Scotland and Wales. It’s an island. It’s situated in the west of Europe. It’s washed by the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea. There are a lot of rivers and lakes, valleys and forests, rocks and hills. Its landscape is very picturesque. The weather is usually wet and foggy. Great Britain has borders with France, Ireland and other European countries. Great Britain London is the capital of Great Britain. Castles of Great Britain. THE ROYAL FAMILY The Queen of Great Britain is Elizabeth II. Her official residence is the Buckingham Palace. The palace was built in the 18th century. The Queen does not have absolute power. Her power is limited by parliament. That is why, political set up of Great Britain is a parliament monarchy. In 1994 the Queen Elizabeth II opened the Palace to the public Her elder son is Charles. Children burn the guy. People watch the fireworks and go to the parties.Christmas is celebrated all around the world. British people like it too, they have it on the 25th of December. The main character is Santa Claus. Children get a lot of presents and sing Christmas carols.Easter Day is the high point of the year. Easter eggs are important in Britain too. Children believe that Easter Rabbit hides the eggs in the garden. A traditional food is roast lamb. Is situated in the central part of North American continent. The USA is washed by Pacific Ocean in the west and Atlantic Ocean in the east. There are fifty states and district of Columbia. Political set up of the USA is a federal republic. The head of the country is a president. The capital is Washington. There are many skyscrapers in the USA. Among places of interest we can see the Statue of Liberty, the Grand Canyon, the White House, Capitol, the Mississippi River, Broadway in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Harvard… The United States of America Canada is the second largest country in the world. Only Russia has a greater land area. Canada is situated in North America. Canada is a federation of 10 provinces and 2 territories. Ottawa is the capital of Canada and is located on the banks of the Ottawa, Rideau and Gatineau rivers. It is separated from Asia by the Arafura and Timor seas. It is a fascinating country. It is full of strange and wonderful places, unusual animals and amazing culture. The native plants are the eucalyptus, the bottle tree, the acacia.Australia is called “ the upside down world”, because it lies in the Southern Hemisphere where winter comes in July and summer begins in December.Until 1901 Australia was a British colony. Now Australia is an independent federal state within the Commonwealth headed by the British Queen. The Queen is represented by Governor General. The Head of Government is Prime Minister.
