Superlative forms of adjectives
Превосходная степень прилагательных
1.Односложные прилагательные
а) присоединяют -est.

fast faster the fastest
late later the latest
old older the oldest
short shorter the shortest

b) Если прилагательное оканчивается на одну гласную и одну согласную, последняя согласная удваивается и присоединяется –est.

2.Двусложные прилагательные, оканчивающиеся на -y: y меняется на i и присоединяется –er.

3.Большинство двусложных и более прилагательных употребляются со словом most.
