My name is Robin Hood. I was born in Locksley and I went to live in Sherwood forest in Nottinghamshire after I was outlawed. Do you know how it happened to me? At the age of fifteen, I defended myself against fifteen foresters who refused to pay the 20 marks they promised me if I could outshoot them. I shot some of the King’s prized deer to feed my starving family. I understood that if the King finds out what I have done he’ll put me in jail. So, the forest became my home.I am a skilled archer and a master of disguise. Both talents helped me outwit my enemy, the Sheriff of Nottingham. I’ve met a lot of really good, kind and brave men who became outlaw and had to hide in forests as me because they only wanted to feed their families killing the King’s animals or they didn’t have enough money to pay the rich men for houses. I decided to make a group of outlaws and called it “Merry men”. They chose me as their leader. We started to take money from the nobles who stole it from the poor and gave it back to the poor.Robin Hood. Years passed and we became famous throughout the land. The poor people loved us because we gave them food and money. There was only one man who hated us most of all – the Sheriff of Nottingham. He liked money more than any other man in England. He tried to catch me many times, but never succeeded. One day I dressed as a butcher and tricked him. The Sheriff came into my forest to buy our animals for very law price. He was very frightened and shocked when he understood what was wrong. We asked him to give us three hundred gold coins then we led him on his horse out of the forest. After that the Sheriff thought of a plan to trap me. He decided to hold a shooting competition in Nottingham Town. The prize was a beautiful arrow made of gold.Do you know who won it? Me, of course!!! My men and I dressed like peasants and beggars and we used berries to change the color of our hair and beards. One day the girl I loved, Marian, helped to win me the forty days of freedom. She was one of the Queen’s servants and spoke with her about me. So the Queen told that if I could win in the King’s shooting competition, they could give me some freedom. And I did it!!! I was very happy those days. Marian and I got married. The years passed and King Henry died. King Richard became the new King. He found me, talked to me and gave me freedom. So, this is the happy end of my story……
