Цели мероприятия:повышение учебной мотивации изучения английского языка;
развитие индивидуальных способностей учащихся к общению
развитие интеллектуальных, познавательных способностей обучающихся;
пробуждение эстетического чувства учащихся;
расширение эрудиции, кругозора учащихся;
развитие положительных личностных качеств как ответственность, доброжелательность и чувство взаимопомощи;
стимулирование самостоятельности учащихся, а также активности, любознательности;
воспитание чувства уважения друг к другу, ценностного отношения к культуре и истории страны изучаемого языка.

Ход мероприятия.
1. Вступительное слово учителя
Good morning everybody! I’m so glad to see you here and welcome to our Club of Merry and Quick- witted! Today we are going to travel from the USA to the UK, from the UK to Australia and New Zealand. I hope our trip we’ll be interesting. First of all, let’s invite the pupils of the 7th form to take part in the competition. Each team has … members and a captain.
Now I would like to introduce the members of our honourable jury of our competition who will record the scores of the teams. The audience, you may support your classmates by clapping.
Teams, please try to be more active, attentive and helpful and show your knowledge of the matter.
I wish you and your captains good luck!
Part I.
So, our teams are on the stage and let’s start the 1st round of our competition: “Introducing”. The teams should introduce themselves and tell their names, mottoes and show us their emblems.
Part II.
Teacher: Thank you, they were quite original. Now let’s turn to the second task of our competition. It is called ‘Flags and capitals’. The team ‘ Merry Girls’ must match the flags and the names of the countries and the 2nd team ‘Brave Captains’ must match the names of the capitals and flags.
Part III. The teams name the proverbs.
Teacher: Thank you very much. Now members of the jury. Could you announce the results of the second part of the contest?
Part IV. Captains’ Contest
Teacher: This task is for the captains.
They translate the proverbs into Russian in a turn.
1. Better late than never.
2. You know a man by his friend.

5. All is well that ends well.
6. It’s never late too late to learn.
7. Every family has a black sheep.

Part V. The next task is for the teams. They have to make other words from the letters it contains, (measurement, development)

It’s country which looks like an island. It is very beautiful. It’s a country of fog and rain. There are A lot of places of interest.
This country has a very high living standard. People speak many languages there. The main symbol on the flag is a maple leaf What is it?
This country occupies a whole continent. It has strange animals and plants. It’s very far from our country
