2016 Where is Australia? Australia is the world’s largest island and the smallest continent. The continent is to the south of the Equator. A u s t r a l i a National symbols Australia's National Flag comprises the Union Jack, the Commonwealth Star and the Southern Cross. Australia's National Emblem Geography Australia's landmass is 7,617,930 square kilometers. Surrounded by the Indian and the Pacific oceans, it is separated from Asia by the Arafura and theTimor seas. The world's smallest continent and the sixth largest country by total area, Australia—owing to its size and isolation—is often dubbed the "island continent", and it is sometimes considered the world's largest island. Australia has 34,218 kilometers of coastline. Geography Thanks to the fact that the continent is south of the Equator, Australia is sometimes called the Land Down Under.Because many people live far away from towns in the outback, people have to send a radio message to the flying doctor service if they become ill.Because people suffer from limited fresh water, the few rivers play an especially important role in people’s life. Most of the continent is sunny most of the year. That’s why Australians suffer one of the world’s highest rates of skin cancer from too much sun exposure.Severe droughts, floods and cyclones often happen on the continent. So, life is not easy in Australia. Climate State Faunal (Bird) Emblems:

Animals Food Australian cuisine has the most diverse range, quality, and inventiveness than many others in the world. However, it took Australia some time to evolve from the scenes of meat pies, Vegemite sandwiches, and sausage rolls to the scene of dishes such as "seared kangaroo fillet with wilted beetroot greens and roasted onions".
