Конкурс знатоков «Англоязычные страны»

Описание работы: Данный урок будет полезен учителям английского языка для проведения в 7 классе, учебник М.З. Биболетовой «Enjoy English». Работа позволяет в игровой форме повторить и обобщить изученный материал по теме «англоязычные страны».
Цели и задачи:
Образовательные: обобщение изученного материала по теме «англоязычные страны»; актуализация страноведческого материала; совершенствование навыков аудирования, чтения и говорения; совершенствование лексических навыков.
Развивающие: повышение уровня мотивации к изучению английского языка; развитие воображения и логического мышления.
Воспитательные: воспитывать чувство сопричастности к мировой культуре; формировать умение работать в коллективе.
Оборудование: карты и картинки с изображением флагов Великобритании, США, Австралии, Новой Зеландии, Канады; картинки животных; картинки с изображением достопримечательностей стран или презентация;
Ход урока:
-Good afternoon, boys and girls! Today we are going to speak about English-speaking countries. But we have unusual lesson today. It will be a game, a competition. For right answers, you will get a star.

What countries are we going to speak?
Учитель приветствует учащихся, объясняет правила игры. Для проверки и оценивания заданий выбирается жюри в составе 3-4 человек. Выполняя задания, участники игры за правильные ответы получают звездочки.
Звучит песня «America, the beautiful».
This song is not the national anthem. But the tune is wonderful and easy to sing, and the whole country is praised. The words and music travelled around the world, and today Mexico, Canada and Australia sing it with their own country’s names instead of America.
Конкурс «Geographical Outlook»
Look at the maps. These are English-speaking countries. Fill in the table. Write down the name of the country, its capital, its area, its population and the number of the flag.
Учащиеся заполняют таблицу на заранее приготовленных листочках, жюри проверяет и сообщает, сколько баллов набрал каждый участник игры.
Учащиеся рассказывают о странах и получают за это дополнительные звездочки.

Big Ben is a symbol of London and of Britain. Big Ben is a name of the clock and the bell in the bell tower. You can hear the sound of Big Ben every hour in London.
The Tower of London was built by William the Conqueror in the eleventh century. It was a fortress, a prison, a palace and the King’s zoo. Now it is a museum.
Buckingham Palace is a wonderful building with a monument in front of it, which is the Queen’s Victoria Memorial. The Queen of the UK lives in Buckingham Palace.
The Sydney Opera House is situated in Sydney Barbour. It was built in 1973. It is 65 meters high.
Niagara Falls is one of the most famous natural wonders. Tourists flock to see the two falls: that actually comprise Niagara Falls: the 53-meter high Horse Shoe Falls on the Canadian side of the Niagara River and the 55-meter high American Falls on the US side of the river.

The USA is a large country, so there is a lot of open space and natural scenery outside the cities. The Americans tried to safe many of the most beautiful wild areas of the USA. There are a lot of parks, forests and wildlands where you can enjoy the beauty and power of wild America. Yellowstone is among the most famous.

Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone National Park is the world’s oldest national park. It became a national park in 1872. It is also the world’s largest park. It covers parts of the states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. In the park, animals are free to come and go. Trees and plants grow everywhere. Yellowstone is famous for its geysers. There are about 70 geysers in the park. People go to a national park to enjoy nature. Two- and- a-half million people visit this beautiful park each year. Park rangers give information to visitors. They also take care of the park. They tell visitors not to pick flowers. They also tell them not to feed or hunt animals.

Ученики подсчитывают звездочки. Три ученика, которые набрали наибольшее количество баллов, становятся лидерами игры и получают специальное задание. Каждый ученик получает набор карточек со словами, из которых нужно составить предложение. Тот, кто составил предложение быстрее и без ошибок, получает право выбрать дорожку (как в телеигре «Умники и умницы»). Тот ученик, который выбирает зеленую дорожку, может ответить неправильно на два вопроса, не выбывая из игры; желтую – на один вопрос; красную - не должен ошибаться. Тот, кто пройдет всю дорожку, становится победителем.

- … was the quickest. He hasn’t made any mistakes. The second was … . The third was … . Here you can see three paths: green, yellow and red. You have to walk through these paths. That student who chooses the green path can make two mistakes. Yellow – one mistake; red – you mustn’t make any mistakes.
Дети выбирают дорожки и отвечают на вопросы учителя. Зеленая дорожка – вопросы о США, желтая дорожка – вопросы о Великобритании, красная дорожка – вопросы о Австралии.
