Презентация :Английские рождественские праздники.

Christmas in England is celebrated on December 25. This day the majority of families go to church, and after it gather at the holiday table. Also this day at 3 o'clock by all radio and TV channels the festive address of the queen indulges. In England there is a cheerful custom: before sitting down at a table people clap a peculiar cracker of "Christmas Cracker". It contains a small souvenir and the comic message. Traditional Christmas dishes in England are the baked turkey with potato (roast turkey and potato), sweet pie with the stuffing (mince pies), the traditional Christmas pudding (Christmas pudding) and Christmas fruit pie (Christmas cake). At the beginning of December the traditional fir-tree 20 meters high is delivered from Oslo to London and is placed by Christmas into the Trafalgar square. British are sentimental. They think of congratulations, gifts and holidays very much. There is a special order: when who and that should give and even how to congratulate! And it can't be neglected. British the first on the eve of Christmas began to decorate the house with an ostrolist, an ivy and a mistletoe. Was considered that the ostrolist frightens off witches, and ancient druids considered a mistletoe as a sacred plant and a symbol of eternal life, Romans appreciated it as a world symbol. It is considered that in England the custom arose to kiss under a mistletoe branch. Every time when the young pair kissed under a branch, the young man broke berry; when berries came to an end, came to an end also kisses. This cheerful tradition remained in England still: at decoration of rooms bouquets of a mistletoe are even on lamps and chandeliers, and, on custom, you can kiss the person standing in the middle of the room under a bouquet of a mistletoe. On an entrance door British hang out a Christmas wreath from fir-tree branches with toys, and on walls of rooms - green leaflets of an ostrolist or an ivy. The house decorated by Christmas, it becomes frequent a subject of pride of the owner. Neighbors compete with each other - at whom it will turn out better and richer. Sometimes it comes down that walls and a house roof, trees and bushes in a garden become covered by garlands from hundred multi-colored bulbs. This day almost in each house Christmas music sounds. Traditional English melodies - "Jingle Bell" (Hand bells ring) and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" (We wish you cheerful Christmas). The twenty sixth of December in Great Britain it too a holiday – Boxing Day. On television all day long there are sports programs therefore British like to spend this day in a chair behind the TV. The holiday comes to an end exactly in twelve days after Christmas, on the sixth of January when start taking off jewelry.
