London is one of the largest cities in the world. London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. London at night St.Paul’s Cathedral St. Paul’s Cathedral is the main cathedral in London.It was designed by Christopher Wren in the 17th century. The Tower It was a fortress, a castle, a royal palace and a prison.Now it’s a museum.There are a lot of interesting collections in The Tower of London. The Tower Bridge Built in 1894 the Tower Bridge has become one of the symbols of London. Westminster Abbey Westminster Abbey is the ancient church. The oldest part of the building dates back to the 8th century. British kings, queens and other famous people are buried here. British monarchs are crowned in Westminster Abbey. BUCKINGHAM PALACE was built in 1830. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have a suite of about 12 rooms on the first floor. The National Gallery is in Trafalgar Square Trafalgar Square is the geographical centre of London.It was named in memory of Admiral Nelson’s victory in the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The tall Nelson’s Column stands in the middle of the square.The National Gallery was founded in1824.It has a fine collection of European paintings. WINDSOR CASTLE – an official residence of Her Majesty the Queen A plan of Windsor Castle The British Museum The British Museum is the biggest museum in London.It was founded in 1753.It has one of the world’s best collections of art and archaeological treasures. Regent’s Park HydePark Oxford is famous for the University There are many buildings at Oxford University. There are a lot of monuments in London Match the photos, the names of the places and their descriptions Trafalgar Square Buckingham Palace Westminster Abbey The Tower of London It is the London home of the Queen. Here you can see the Changing of the Guard. British people like to rest and relax here. In the centre thereis the Nelson’s Column. The coronation of all British Kings and Queens takes place here. Some English famous people are also buried here. It has a long and cruel history. It was a palace, a prison. There is a museum here now.
