Central state Museum of Kazakhstan.It is one of the oldest and largest museum of the Central Asia. It was established in 1831 in Orenburg at military school, In 1929 the museum moved to Almaty .  From 1985 the state museum was housed in specially designed building with a total area of 17557 sq. m. The building of the museum was constructed by J.Ratushniy, Z.Mustafina and B.Rzagalieva's projects. The exposition of the museum placed in four exposition halls (a paleontology and archeology hall; anthropology and ethnography of Kazakhstan; Ethnography of the people of Kazakhstan, the Great Patriotic War; Sovereign Kazakhstan) reflects history of the country since the most ancient times up to now. Also thematic exhibitions, festivals, meetings, museum lessons are regularly held here. State Museum of Popular Musical Instruments was created in 1980. It is one of the cultural sights of "The Southern Capital". Kazakh musical instruments have been collected in the Museum from all regions of Kazakhstan, as well as from the CIS countries and other parts of the world.The collection includes personal dombras of poets, zhyrau and composers, such as: Abai, Zhambyl, Makhambet. Amre, Dina and other figures of the musical arts.The Museum is located in a traditional Russian wooden building, dating to 1907. Kasteev’s Museum of Arts is situated in Almaty. It was founded in 1935. As the national Gallery of Kazakhstan it attracts many visitors. The heritage left to us by the masters of the past . Now it is carefully presented in this museum. There are many wonderful things to look and admire. Here also includes masterpieces of modern art of different forms and styles. It includes over 20 thousand exhibits in its collection (painting, graphics, sculpture, theatre, and decorative art).
