Being Queen is a really busy job. Elizabeth П gets up early and begins the day by looking through the newspapers, Then she reads letters from the public ( she gets more than 1000 each week ), and tells her staff how she would like them to be answered. The Queen has daily meetings with her Private Secretary who helps her to go through her paperwork, and lots of meetings with ambassadors, new judges, and bishops. In the afternoon Elizabeth П often goes out on public engagements – she gets thousands of invitations each year. She opens new hospitals, bridges and factories.Being Queen is not a 9 to 5 job, and Elizabeth П has to work from early in the morning until late at night. And people watch her all the time.Of course, she has some free time, and some private life, but less than most people. In her spare time Elizabeth П enjoys horse racing, fishing, and walking in the countryside. She also enjoys photography and likes taking photos on her travels. In 50 years the Queen has been on 251 official visits to 128 different countries. There are 600 rooms and 3 miles of red carpet. Two men work full-time to look after the 300 clocks. About 700 people work in the Palace. When the Queen invites a lot of people for dinner, it takes 3 days to prepare the table and 3 days to do the washing-up. Everybody has 5 glasses: 1 for red wine. 1 for white wine, 1 for water, 1 for port, and 1 for liqueur. During the first and second courses, the Queen speaks to the person on her left and then she speaks to the person on her right for the rest of the meal. When the Queen finishes her food, everybody finishes, and it`s time for the next course! In October 2000 he opened the first exhibition of his own paintings. He had started painting when he was 40 and since then he has painted over 500 pictures. “For many years I painted in private, and I didn`t really talk about it to anyone outside my family,” he said. But finally he decided to show his paintings to “anyone who is curious about them”. A lot of people were curious, and most of his paintings have been sold. Yellow Linda With Piano, 1988. Timmy boasted, ‘I`m first in arithmetic, Grandpa’.Sally said she had come first in the spelling bee. This is not just because it is different from bars or cafes in other countries. It is also because it is different from any other public place in Britain itself. Without pubs, Britain would be a less sociable country. The pub is the only indoor place where the average person can comfortably meet others, even strangers, and get into prolong conversation with them. In cafes and fast food restaurants people are expected to drink their coffee and get out. The atmosphere in other eating places is often rather formal. But pubs, like fast food restaurants, are classless. As with so many other aspects of British life, pubs have become a bit less distinctive in the last quarter of the twentieth century. They used to serve almost nothing but beer and spirits. These days you can get wine, coffee and some hot food at most of them as well. This has helped to widen their appeal. At one time it was unusual for women to go to pubs. These days only a few pubs exist where it is surprising for a woman to walk in. Nevertheless, pubs have retained their special character. One of their notable aspects is that there is no waiter service. Over the last thirty years it has had an enormous effect on people's lives, and especially on the kind of clothes they wear. The first group to be seen in the late 50s were Teddy Boys. Their clothes were supposed to be similar to those worn in Edwardian England (Ted and Teddy are abbreviations of Edward). Before the arrival of the Teddy Boys young people had usually worn what their parents wore. Now they wore what they liked. ሠĠྟྠЋФото взяты с сайтовhttp://www.mp3lyrics.org/http://stalker-zone.ru ྡ$HE"aྪ6)ЉЉЉྦрǔːϰԐHꀁఀѓ0ƁࠀƃࠀƓ龎‹Ɣ뷞hƿǿ̄̿ Фото взяты с сайтовhttp://www.mp3lyrics.org/http://stalker-zone.ru In the mid-60s the Mods, (so called because of their "modern" style of dressing) became the new leaders of teenage fashion. Mods Rockers Фото взяты с сайтовyangfashionsourcebook.blogspot.comwww.myspace.com Throughout the 60s, on public holidays during the summer, groups of Mods and Rockers used to travel to the sea-side resorts of south-eastern England, such as Brighton and Margate, and get involved in battles with the police and with each other. Nevertheless at that time "swinging London" was everybody's idea of heaven! Young people were very clothes-conscious and London's Carnaby Street became the fashion centre of Europe and the world. It attracted thousands of tourists every year. The word punk comes from American English and it is often used to describe someone who is immoral or worthless. The best known punk band of the 70s and early 80s were the "Sex Pistols", who are still famous for their strange names, including Johnny Rotten and Sid Vicious. They sang songs about anarchy and destruction and upset many people by using bad language on television and by insulting the Queen. Punk clothes show a rejection of accepted styles of dress. Their music is loud, fast and tuneless. They feel that the music of the 70s had become too complicated. It had lost touch with the feelings of "ordinary kids." Фото взято с сайтаjcarlin470.tumblr.com In the 1980s many new bands have appeared and reappeared. Out of punk has come New Wave music which totally rejects the ideas of the skinheads. Many of the bands contain both black and white musicians, and anti-racism concerts have been organized. West Indian music has also played a large part in forming people's musical tastes. Many new British bands combine traditional rock music with an infectious reggae beat. From America, a new interest in discotheques and dancing has appeared. A traditional English breakfast is a very big meal — sausages, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, sometimes mushrooms. But nowadays many people have cereal with milk and sugar, or toast with marmalade, jam, or honey. By the way, marmalade and jam are not the same! Marmalade is made from oranges and jam is made from other fruit. The traditional breakfast drink is tea, which people have with cold milk. Some people have coffee, often instant coffee, which is made with just hot water. For many people lunch is a quick meal. Lunch may take 30-40 minutes, it is usually taken at school or work or in a bar. In cities there are a lot of sandwich bars, where office workers usually have their lunch. It may be any kind of bread — brown, white, or a roll — and then all sorts of salad and meat or fish to go in the sandwich. Pubs often serve good, cheap food, both hot and cold. School-children may have a hot meal at school, but many just take a snack from home. It may be a sandwich, a drink, some fruit, and perhaps some crisps. Фото взято с сайтаhttp://medinfo.ua In the afternoon about five o'clock nearly everybody has tea, with biscuits or cakes. Cream teas are popular. You have a scone (a kind of cake) with cream and jam. Incidentally, this is how to make English tea. Fill the kettle with cold water, boil the water, warm the pot, put one teaspoon of tea in the pot for each person and one extra "for the pot", pour hot water into the pot. Enjoy your tea! Фото взято с сайтаhttp://www.bielsko.biala.pl The evening meal (which is sometimes called dinner, sometimes supper) is the main meal of the day in most families. It consists of two courses — meat or fish with plenty of vegetables — potatoes, carrots, cabbage, peas, and a dessert. For dessert people usually have fruit or a famous English pudding. In the evening people eat rather early, between 6.00 and 8.00, and often the whole family eats together.
