The fact that in ancient times, numerous settlements had their own animal totems and now we can see them as national animals. For instance, the national animal of Scotland is actually a fictitious creature – The unicorn! The national symbol of Australia is Kangaroo The kangaroo is a recognizable symbol of Australia. Kangaroos have also been featured on coins, most notably the five kangaroos on the Australian one dollar coin. According to the legend, this animal was first seen by the expedition of captain Cook who discovered the continent. The national symbol of Canada is Beaver As the national animal and one of the national symbols of Canada, the beaver is depicted on the Canadian five-cent piece and was on the first Canadian postage stamp, the Three Penny Beaver. In the 17th-18th centuries the beaver`s hats came into fashion in Europe . And there were lots of beavers in Canada. The conclusion I`d like to say that all countries are proud of their symbols, which they feel reflect national characteristics or the beauty and variety of  their natural environments.  It is our priority to preserve these amazing natural treasures, and make our world a more beautiful place.
