An economic, political and cultural progress of any country or any society is invariably connected with the trainings of highly skilled personnel, education of all-round educated and up to date generation. That is why, while Turkmenistan is on a new phase of its history, we pay much attention to the creation of a perfect educational system, corresponded to all modern requirements and best world experiences.” Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, the Esteemed President of Turkmenistan What is Information and Communication Technology (ICT)? ”Technology" (systematic treatment) is a Greek word, which means the total knowledge and skills available to any human society for industry, art, science, etc. The modern interpretation of this word includes the application of practical sciences to industry or commerceInformation and Communication Technologies (ICT)-general notion, dealt with various methods and ways of collecting, storing, processing and transferring the information. Information and Communication Technologies E-textbooks The Internet and its Resources E-mails E-Dictionaries What is an E-textbook? a set of educational, monitoring, simulative and other programs on magnetic medium (hard or floppy disks) with the main educational contents on a required в academic subject. E-textbook- The Oxford Dictionary of English defines the e-book as “an electronic version of a printed book.” What is E-textbook? Presentation of educational material Practice Testing 1. teaching or leaning without checking; 2. teaching or leaning with checking, where every unit offers various exercises and tasks in order to check the learning level; 3. Testing control for final lessons and evaluation Traditional structure: 3 major regimes of working with e-books Requirements to E-books: 1. The information should be well structured and in a form of complete units with a limited number of new definitions; 2. Any text or topic in a unit should be illustrated with audio or visual aids (“alive lectures”) ;3. The illustrations should be provided with flash prompt, appearing or disappearing while putting a cursor on separate pictures, tables with grammar or lexical rules, maps, schemes, drafts, etc.. Requirements to E-books: 4. The text part should be supplemented with references in order to save the time for searching required information5. Each unit should comprise visual or animated material, being difficult for understanding and explanation. In this way a teacher can save his/her time while giving a presentation in comparison with traditional one. There are some things which are impossible to describe to a person who hasn’t seen it before. (waterfalls, fire, etc..)6.The presence of audio information is the main and indispensable substantial part of an e-book. Pluses of E-books: Cost cheaper than traditional books; Mobility and storage; Easy to distribute; Provide practically momentary feedback; Help to find the required information quickly (in comparison with a traditional book); Update the provided information; Comprise much extra information, including a number of various tasks and examples, illustrated in dynamics Pluses of E-books: Save electricity, because they can be read in dark rooms or at nights; Check the knowledge- computer testing; Save the time substantially; The presence of modern media technologies allow to monitor and trace the understanding of definite material. “English for Freshmen” The Structure of E-book : presentation of educational material on 15 major topics; supplementary audio and visual material testing Supplementary materials: Ten introductory remedial units, which include English alphabet, transcription signs, types of reading and intonation to develop students’ listening and speaking skills. This course consists of phonetic drills (exercises, proverbs and small poems) with the purpose to acquire automated skills in English pronunciation and intonation; Grammar and Spelling Appendixes in Turkmen- a supplementary material for each unit in native language to make the learning language process easier and more understandable; Illustrated vocabulary appendix for every unit in order to motivate the learners to enlarge their vocabulary; And Audio files in a form of dialogues, texts and mini lectures pronounced by native speakers. REMEMBER: While working out any e-textbooks, a teacher should remember that his or her knowledge of software tools is not enough, it is necessary to have a theoretical and practical methodical background and be ready to apply all the teaching experience in this electronic course.
