Green Park London is famous of its picturesque parks. Hyde is one of them. It is a royal park. Greenwich Park Kensington Gardens Hyde Park The area of the park is 1.4 km2. It is situated in the center of London. In the middle ages the park belonged to the Westminster Abby and it took its name from the ancient measure. But then Henry VIII bought the park and made it the territory of hunting. The king Jakob I opened Hyde park for the whole population. It got its name thanks to their unusual form looking like a snake. You can go booting and fishing here and even swim. There is a beautiful bridge over the lake. interesting sights in Hyde Park are Apsley House with the Wellington Museum and Wellington Arch. These objects remind about the parade in 1815 in honor of Wellington’s victory over Napoleon Another sight is the statue of Achilles, which became the first almost naked statue in London and caused uproar of citizens. But the most famous place is the Speakers Corner. In 1872 the prime minister of GB ordered to organize this place. You can hear all kinds of speakers there and even speak yourself. There is a Rotten Row in the park. It was the first road in the country lit by 300 lamps. “Rotten Row” is the French for “the king way”. One place is very unusual. It is the pets Cemetery. There are 300 graves of pets with touching words devoted to pets. It is opened once a year. Hyde park is the favourite place for people who want to keep fit because they can run, go horseracing, play tennis and bowling and rollerskate here. WELCOME TO HYDE PARK!
