Inventions that were once considered amazing are now everyday household items, which make life easier and provide entertainment and security. Over the years, technology has proved to be invaluable in the home. Most modern appliances are easy to use and can do almost everything — from cooking to washing clothes and dishes — quickly and efficiently. As a result, people have more leisure time. Technology has made life more comfortable. We do not have to go out as much. In fact, almost everything can be done in the comfort of our homes. For instance, we can watch our favourite film with Dolby surround sound, play a game on the Internet, chat with friends and even shop online. What is more, people can now entertain themselves at home. In the past, it was quite simple for a burglar to break into a house. Nowadays, burglar alarms, fitted with laser beams and front-door video cameras, make homes much safer. Technology is also important for security reasons. It is certain that more improvements will be made in the future. Summing up, there is no doubt that technological advances have changed people's lives through the ages.
