Australia is located in the southern hemisphere that’s why January is the hottest month in AustraliaIt is the smallest, driest and flattest continent.Canberra is the capital. 70% of the population live in the 10 largest cities.People of about 200 nationalities live in Australia. The Unique Australian Wildlife It includes: •70% of the word’s marsupials •All of the word’s monotremes•Only a small percentage of the word’s placentals•An enormous diversity of parrots and other birds•A fascinating range of reptiles, amphibians and fish.Australia′s best-known animals are the kangaroo, the koala and the dingo. The KoalaThe koala is one of best known and most loved animals in Australia. Koalas live in lightly wooded areas containing suitable food. The Koala can sleep for up to 20 hours per day, mainly because their diet is so energy poor. Dingo Dingos were brought to Australia from South-East Asia about 4000 years ago. Dingos are similar to domestic dogs. Wombat It is a medium sized animal that makes a burrow by digging holes in the ground. Wombats are usually around a meter long when they are fully grown. It is a marsupial because it has a pouch on its belly that holds its young. Red Kangaroo The Red Kangaroo is the largest kangaroo. There are 50 species of kangaroo. It is the largest mammal in Australia, and the largest marsupial in the world. Unique Australian Nature WondersThere are 15 nature Australian properties inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Two of them, the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru, have secured a place in the final stage of voting in the global search for the New7Wonders of Nature. Great Barrier Reef The Great Barrier Reef is a site of remarkable variety and beauty on the north-east coast of Australia. It contains the world’s largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of molluscs. The rock Uluru Uluru is an immense monolith situated in the middle of the vast red sandy plain of central Australia. Thank you!
