It is a popular tradition. 25th of December families get together English families buy a real or fake tree to decorate. They decorate it with toys, coloured balls and little coloured lights. Other decorations are put around the house. Wreaths are usually hung on the front door of homes. The streets are full of decorations, too. In England it is very common to send and receive cards. The first Christmas card was created by Henry Cole in 1843. Father Christmas or Santa Claus is associated with giving presents. Many children put a Christmas stoking in the bedroom or near the chimney for Father Christmas to fill Children write letters to Father Christmas and mail them to the North Pole. Most families put presents under or on Christmas tree and open them on Christmas Day A traditional Christmas dinner is roast turkey, roast potatoes and green vegetables.
