"The Chekhovs' shop - Museum in the city of Taganrog, Rostov region. Part of the Taganrog state literary and historical-architectural Museum-reserve.
The Museum is located in the house of the 40-ies of the XIX century, the Chekhovs family rented from 1869 to 1874. Shop Chekhov was located downstairs on the ground floor and on the first the family lived. Anton Chekhov lived here from 9 to 14 years.
The Museum building was opened on 3 November 1977. The exposure created to tell about the childhood of A. P. Chekhov. Presents the interior of the times of the writer's childhood, some members of his family, as well as family pictures.Museum Chekhovs ' Shop is located in a small two-storey house built in the 40-ies of the XIX century. In the 60s he belonged to Taganrog merchant I. Moses, the owner of the distillery warehouses.
The Chekhovs family rented this house from 1869 to 1874, Moving here was associated with the trading interests of the father, PavelYegorovich. On the ground floor was a shop of his father, on the second floor - living room, where the family lived.
Anton Chekhov lived here from 9 to 14 years. These years left in the life of a writer many memories: long hours sitting in his father's shop, participation in the Church choir rehearsals, the first theatrical impressions and tentative steps in drama...
Sitting behind the counter, Anton Chekhov watched by the shop, which later became the prototypes of his works. Stories "Vanka", "sleepy", "GIMP", "Singing", "Father", "Difficult people" and others - the echoes of those memories A. P. Chekhov.
3 November 1977 there was opened a Museum to show the conditions and environment in which passed childhood and adolescence of the future writer. In the exposition of the Museum presents the interiors of shops P. E. Chekhov, living rooms of the family. There are original works of the writer's brother, Nicholas, a gifted artist, as well as photographs and family documents.
