Dagestan - is a republic of Russia, located in the North Caucasus region. Its capital and largest city is Makhachkala, located at the center of Dagestan on the Caspian Sea.

Largest among these ethnicities are the Avar, Dargin, Kumyk, Lezgian, Laks, Azerbaijani, Tabasaran and Chechen.

Ethnic Russians comprise about 3.6% of Dagestan's total population. Russian is the primary official language and the lingua franca among the ethnicities.
By land and the Caspian Sea Dagestan is bound by five states - Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran, while within the Russian Federation, it is bound by Stavropol Territory, Kalmykia and Chechnya.The geographical situation, landscape diversity and the Caspian Sea reservoir make the climate of Dagestan rather diversified. Dagestan comprises five climatic and a number of geographical zones: from the Caspian lowland at 28 meters below the level of the world ocean and the subtropics - up to the snow peaks of more than 4 thousand meters high. Local summers are warm and long. Average winter temperature is 0-5C, average summer temperature is +25C.

Dagestan means the "Mountain Country" in Turkish as 56% of its total territory is covered with mountain ranges and valleys. Mountain peaks covered with snow all year round impress tourists with their magnificent beauty and calm. Makhachkala - a city in southern Russia, the capital of the Republic of Dagestan, the third most populous city in the North Caucasus region and the largest city in the North Caucasian federal District. Irregularly shaped fortress covers an area of 4.5 hectares. Its walls reinforced with small towers. In the south-west corner of the fortress there is a large square tower, serving as a fortress to bond with a defensive wall.
Inside the fortress there is the cross-dome Church of the V century and a mosque. Juma Mosque - the oldest in Russia, it was founded in the VIII century. In front of the mosque there is a madrasah of the XV century.

Dune Sarykumis a unique natural monument of Dagestan. It recognized as the second largest in the world. In Europe and Asia, has no equal in magnitude to our Sarykum. Its length is 12 km, maximum width - 4 km, height 252 m. It is established as an excellent fine sand.
Apart from the fact that there grow plants in Barkhan and animals are found, some of which are characteristic of Central Asia. Where did these sands come from? There are many different versions, hypotheses and many legends. Doctor of Geological Sciences Bunin believes that the dune is a volcanic origin.

Kasumkent is foothill village in Dagestan. The village of Kasumkent is the region centre of Suleyman – Stalky district. The village is situated in in a picturesque location in the village of rives Chiragchay and Kurakh. Kasumkent is situated about 185 km by South from Makhachkala.
The are three seconday schools, many cultural and social institutions, wide and clean streets, two story house with all conveniences. There are a lot of historical and memorable places in Kasumkent and the surrounding are.
