Title: Visitors.
Theme: A Visit to London and Visitors.
Motto: "The world is a book and those who do not travel real only a page." (St.Augustine).
Basic aim: Reading.

Objectives:
listening for specific information.
reading and scanning.
reading and community work.
writing and speaking.
grammar practice of the Present Perfect.
giving pupils practice in accurate pronunciation.
providing opportunities for pupils to use language.
learning sights of London.
Visuals: video set, cassettes, maps of London, guides, leaflets, tickets, postcards, photos, bus passes, books, different kinds of souvenirs: a helmet, a kerchief, trays, pendants, a spoon, toys, student's books, sheets of paper.
Development
I. Beginning (2 m).
I. Warming — up activity.
How are you? I'm fine, thank you. Take your places.
2. Introduction of the lesson.
Today we are going to speak about London and its sights. Some students of our school have visited London. In 1997 they were guests of London, visitors of London. They have brought a lot of maps of London, guides, leaflets, tickets, postcards, photos, many books, different kinds of souvenirs.
3. Phonetic work.
Who can tell and read the motto of our lesson?
How do you understand these wise words?
Repeat after me, please.

II. Follow-up.
I. Communication work. (5 m).
Meet Olya, Misha and Ilya, please. They are guests of our lesson. I've invited them to our lesson. Would you like to ask them questions? You are welcome.
2. Listening to Olya's story and watching video. (11 m).
Listen to Olya s story very attentively because you are going to get more information about these places. Thank you Misha, Olya, Ilya, very much. Take your places. Students, you can ask them some more questions about their trip during the break.
3. Pre — reading task. (1 m).
And now before your reading about sights of London I want you to read these words look at the blackboard, please, and read after me:

4. Reading the text and scanning. (5 m). Now open the books at p82 and read the text "Things to see in London". White you are reading list the places of interest Olya, Misha and Ilya have visited. Five minutes for you.
Answer the questions:
1) What places have they visited?
2) What places haven't they visited?
5. Post-reading. (15 m).
1). Match the pictures to the places mentioned in the text. Ex. 2, p. 83.
2). Ex. 3, p. 83. Reading and speaking.
Find the answers to the questions.
Work in pairs. Help each other and be ready to discuss.
3). Individual task.
Look at the texts and find all the names of places and list them on the board.
Ex. 4, p. 83.
4). Let's play a guessing game.
Work in pairs. Choose and write down two things you have seen today. Give your things to another pair. They must say where you have been.

III. Rounding — off.
I. Setting homework. (1 m).
Your homework is Ex. 6, p. 83. Read the text once again and answer the questions. Is everything clear?
Open your diaries and put down your homework.
2. Summarizing of the lesson. (3 m).
I want to know what you have learned at our lesson.
Take these sheets of paper.
Look at the pictures, read the sentences and write down the names of sights.
3. Look at the blackboard and choose the picture of your mood. (1 m).
