Цель: Систематизировать и закрепить умения и навыки устной речи по теме “Англоязычные страны и родная страна”.
Задачи:
Расширение знаний учащихся по страноведению Соединённого королевства Великобритании и Северной Ирландии, США и России;
Развитие устной монологической речи учащихся;
Совершенствование навыков аудирования;
Мотивация учащихся на поисковую деятельность.
Оснащение:
Карточки, картинки;
мультимедийный проектор;
презентация.
Ход урока
1. Организационный момент
Good morning boys and girls. Today we’ll have an unusual lesson. Look at the blackboard (cлайд №1 презентации) the name of our lesson is “We are in a global village”.What do you understand under “a global village”? Right you are, it is our world. Today we will check our knowledge about some English-speaking countries and Russia, their traditions, historical facts, emblems, symbols, sightseeing.

You can see two columns of words on the blackboard. Will you read them aloud, in a whisper? Let’s read them after Kate. Can you match the words from the first column and the second one to make up the word combinations?

Now you will listen to the texts about the official names of Britain, America and Russia.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.The official or political name of the country is The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. At the United Nations and in the European Parliament, it is usually known by a shorter name: The United Kingdom or the abbreviation THE UK.
The country is often called Britain. The poetic name of the country is Albion. The geographical name of the country is The British Isles because the country occupies the islands, which are called the British Isles.
The United States of America.The official or political name of the country is The United States of America because the country consists of 50 states. The country is usually known by a shorter name or the abbreviation THE USA or THE US. The country is often known as America because of the name of the continent. America is the geographical name of the country.
The Russian Federation.The official or political name of the country is The Russian Federation, which has the abbreviation RF. It is also called Russia. The local long form is Rossiyskaya Federatciya. The local short form is Rossiya. Before the revolution in 1917, it was known as the Russian Empire. Then afterwards it was known as the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic – RSFSR. The poetic name of the country is RUS.

Let’s start. (Слайд №2 презентации)
a) To cooperate and to live in peace in todays multicultural Global Village, we have to learn and understand each other to escape culture conflicts and shocks when meeting. Imagine, that you are secret agents and you were sent to one of foreign countries to get the information about it.
Let’s see what country you were sent to. Here is the information (HYPERLINK "http://festival.1september.ru/articles/600225/pril1.doc"Приложение №1) about one of 3 countries, choose, read and have a sit near the emblem (HYPERLINK "http://festival.1september.ru/articles/600225/pril2.7z"Приложение №2) of the country where these traditions or facts take place.
We will form 3 groups.
(Учащимся на выбор предлагаются напечатанные на карточках исторические факты или традиции 3-х стран. Ознакомившись с информацией каждый ученик должен определить, о какой стране идет речь, найти герб этой страны и занять место рядом с ним. Количество карточек индивидуально в каждом классе и соответствует количеству учащихся, если количество учащихся не кратно трем, группы могут быть неравными)First let’s name the countries after their emblems.

As you see today we are going to speak about the UK, the USA and the Russian Federation.
b) Now review the information about their flags. (Приложение №3). and complete the tables (Приложение №4) (Учащиеся получают индивидуальные бланки для контроля и формируют общую таблицу)

c) I see you are tired. Stand up and find in the classroom symbols of the countries you were sent to. (Приложение №5) Name them.(Картинки с символами стран могут быть размещены на стенах, в партах, жалюзи и т.д.)
Развитие навыков монологической речи.
d) Now you are to create a writing project or a computer presentation. (Слайды №3-7 презентации) using the facts you know and you will find in computer about the country you were sent to. (Прослушивание сообщений по группам)
e) A good secret agent should be very attentive and know everything not only about the country he or she is. Let’s check were you attentive or not. (Слайд №9 презентации)
