We are going to read about two republics, The Chuvash Republic and the Buryat Republic. What do you know about them?

Now we are going to look at some pictures and read the captions.
The flag of the Chuvash Republic has a stylized tree of life, a symbol of rebirth, with the three suns, a traditional emblem popular in Chuvash art. Deep red stands for the land, the golden yellow stands for prosperity.
There are many theatres and museums in Cheboksary. In the middle of the city there is a beautiful bay. Cheboksary has also a beautiful boardwalks and beaches along the Volga River where people swim in the summer.
The flag of the Republic of Buryatia is a tricolor consisting of horizontal bands of blue, white and yellow with a yellow mongol symbol on the blue band.
There are many old historical buildings in the centre of Ulan-Ude.
Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake in the world, containing 20 % of the world’s unfrozen surface fresh water. It also the deepest lake in the world. It is about 25 million years old.
