In the vocabulary we can find different explanations of the word ‘Easter’. For example, Easter or Easter Sunday is a Sunday in March or April when Christians remember the death of Christ and his return to life.

Easter marks the end of Lent, a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance. The last week of the Lent is called Holy Week, and it contains Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Easter is followed by a fifty-day period called Eastertide or the Easter Season, ending with Pentecost Sunday.

Easter customs.Decorating Easter eggs and cooking Easter pies are traditions which unite different nations.


 Widespread tradition is to fight with eggs by pair and one's egg become last surviving is called borak (Bulgarian: борак, fighter).In the northern and eastern parts of the Netherlands Easter Fires are lit on Easter Day at sunset. Easter Fires also take place on the same day in large portions of Northern Germany.

Easter in different countriesIn some countries where Christianity is a state religion, or where the country has large Christian population, Easter is a public holiday. Some European and other countries in the world have also Easter Monday as a public holiday.
