St. Patrick, the patron
saint of Ireland, is one
of Christianity's most
widely known figures. Who Was St. Patrick? He was born in Wales about
AD 385. His given name was
Maewyn Succat.
When he was 16, he was sold
into slavery to Ireland where he
was a shepherd for 6 years.
While in captivity he studied
and turned to religion.
Who Was St. Patrick? He escaped slavery and later returned to Ireland asa Missionary, determined to convert (обращать) Ireland to Christianity. He traveled throughout Ireland, establishing monasteries, schoolsand churches across the country. His mission in Ireland lasted for thirty years. He died on March 17 in AD 461. All over the world, St. Patrick's Day is a time to wear a shamrock. The shamrock is a clover leaf with three parts, some people saythat the three parts are the footprints of angels.
