Aims:
- revise and use the vocabulary on the given topic;
- develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through using interactive technologies;
- learn how to use the Past Simple Tense;
- work in groups;
- broaden their outlook and develop their creative imagination.
Equipment: two hats, cards with vocabulary tasks, presentation “Outdoor Activities”, flowers with points, CD disk “The Banana Song”, a poster “Mr. Brown is going to the camp”, Pupil’s Book by O. Karpiuk

Introduction
Greeting
T. Children today is an unusual lesson. Let’s start it with a rhyme.
RHYME
I wake up in the morning
Ready for the day!
Hello! Hello! Good morning!
What a lovely day!
II. Main part
Vocabulary
T. Look at the pictures and say what activities you do when it is:

A teacher joins the class into two groups. Each team gets a hat with the strips. They took turns to get a strip out of the hat. If the team can answer the question written on the strip they get a point. If they cannot answer, the other team gets a chance to get two points for the right answer.

Let’s play a game. Take turns to take strips with tasks out of the hats. For each right answer you get a point. But if the answer is not correct the other team gets an opportunity to gain two points. So, be careful and precise!
It helps you find your way in the wood. (compass)

Reading
Pre-reading
Look at the pictures (p.171). Can you guess the meaning of the words? Write them down to your vocabularies.
While-reading
T. Read the dialogue and find out what outdoor activities Cathy did on her trip to outdoor school camp.
P1. Cathy built shelters.
P2. Cathy learnt about forest plants and mushrooms.
P3. Cathy had the first-aid course.
Post-reading
1) T. Choose the word to make true sentences about Cathy (Ex. 3 p. 171)
2) T. Read the text and join the lines to make up sentences.
1. At 7 a.m. Cathy and Linda wereback.

4. Then the boys and girls on the bus.

T. Look at the outdoor activities one more time and complete the dialogue.
Role-play it in the class.
Mother: Hello, Cathy!
C.: Is it you, mum?
M.: Yes, I am. How are you, dear?
C.: I’m fine / great/ cool.
M.: How did you spend the day?
C.: Oh, I liked it very much. It was so interesting/ great/ exciting.
M.: What activity did you like most of all?
C.: Well, I liked to build shelters/walk in the forest/ gather mushrooms. It was really/ great/ cool/ exciting!
M.: I’m glad to hear it. And what is the weather like there?
C.: It’s rather hot here. Don’t worry, mum.
Writing
T. This is Mr. Brown. Mr. Brown is going to the outdoor summer camp. Mr. Brown wrote a list of things to take with him to the camp. There are a lot of things he wants to take. But he cannot take all of them. Help Mr. Brown to choose the most necessary things. Pupils go to the poster and underline the necessary words.
e. g. Mr. Brown will need a compass.
III.Summing-up
T. If you were on this trip to outdoor summer camp with Cathy which activities would you like to do?
e.g. I would like to sing in a karaoke.
I would like to go fishing.
T. I liked your work today. You were great! (The teacher puts the marks to the pupils).
