Their songs are close to everyone, and even to those who don’t speak English. They were the greatest and most influential act of the rock era, and introduced more innovations into popular music than any other rock band of the 20th century. The Beatles were the most famous pop and rock group of the 1960s. Their music was popular not only in Britain, but all over the world. John George Paul Ringo Ringo Starr or Richard Starkey was born in Liverpool on July, 7, 1940. The youngest of four children, George Harrison was born February 25, 1943. Group forming 1957-1962 In 1957, at fifteen years of age, John met Paul McCartney. John Lennon learnt to play harmonica at the age of 12 but he wanted to be a millionaire not a musician. The Quarrymen The result of their conjoined musical talents was a band called "The Quarrymen", named after Quarry Banks, the school that they attended. The Cavern Club At their early beginnings Beatles often performed in Liverpool’s Cavern Club. George playing his Gretsch guitar during a jam session in The Cavern Paul playing his Hofner bass during a jam session in The Cavern Their first recordings, "Love Me Do" (1962) and "Please Please Me" (1963), quickly made them Britain's top rock group. 1963 1964 The release of "I Want to Hold Your Hand" in 1964 marked the beginning of the phenomenon known as "Beatlemania" in the United States. The First US Visit The Beatles' first U.S. tour aroused a universal mob adulation. Their concerts were scenes of mass worship, and their records sold in the millions. A Hard Day's Night. The Beatles’ first feature film. Their first film, the innovative A Hard Day's Night (1964), was received by a wide audience that included many who had never before listened to rock music. 1965 Some enthusiasts cite the albums Rubber Soul (1965) as the apex of Beatle art. The Concerts at Shea Stadium On August 15, 1965, The Beatles started their second North American tour at Shea Stadium, which was the first rock concert to be held in a venue of that size. The concert also set two new world records, one for attendance (56,000) and one for revenue. Ticket to Shea Stadium 1966 The Beatles concerts in Japan A ticket from one of the five performances The Beatles made at Nippon Budokan Hall, Tokyo, Japan On July 2, 1966, The Beatles became the first musical group to perform at the Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo. The performance ignited a lot of protest from local citizens who felt that it was inappropriate for a rock-and-roll band to play at Budokan. 1967 1968 The Beatles or “The White album”It released in late 1968 and was a real triumph. 1969 Though The Beatles were still progressing, but it turned out to be the end of the road, as their business disputes continued to magnify. The members of the band began to pursue their own musical interests and were writing together less and less. This became more and more obvious. Abbey Road It was something of a miracle, then, that the final album recorded by the group, Abbey Road, was one of their most unified efforts (even if, by this time, the musicians were recording many of their parts separately). The group disbanded after the release of their final album, Let It Be, to pursue individual careers. On April 10, 1970, McCartney announced that the band had officially broken up. After that all the members established solo projects. The last photo session The last Beatles studio session that included all four band members took place on August 20, 1969. The song they had finished had a fitting title: "The End". George Harrison died on 29th of November in 2001, at the age of 58. John Lennon was shot in New York outside his house on the 8th of December in 1980.
