[21-35] Warm up “Word wizard” game G
Teacher writes down words on space and technology on the board. Learners play in pairs. They are to find the word on the board (teacher may say either definition or translation of a word). Who finds first, stays, and plays with another student.
Writing activity P
(G) Learners consider the ways of writing different text types by filling in the following table:
type frame purpose e.g.
narrative usually chronological (timeline) to recount events story
debate or discussion instruction explanation persuasion description information This is to raise awareness of text types which is useful across all subjects.
Allow learners time to complete and discuss the table – this is not a competition to see who finishes first, but an activity that needs thought. Learners need to put more than one example (if possible) in the last column.
Encourage learners to justify their choices and help if necessary.

first discuss their experiences of air travel and list all the words they can associated with air travel
then check their lists against the list in Learning resources. Add any they have missed out to their own Vocabulary notebooks with illustrations.
