The culture and history of UK are also special in relation to all another countries. Great Britain is one of the greatest powerful countries and its sights are known all over the world. Almost everyone has heard about them. Here some facts about this wonderful city: London is the capital of Great Britain, and it is also the biggest city. London occupies 1 572 km ². London is situated on the prime meridian which is known as Greenwich. The meridian got its nme because it passes through Greenwich. The population of England is more than 8 million people. Due to this London takes the 16th place in the world and the 2nd in Europe. This giant city was founded in 43 A.D. This year the modest town was only 1.6 km from the East to the west and 0,8 km from the North to the south. Big Ben actually got its name because of a 13-ton bell which is located in the clocks. Modern London is formed by two ancient cities - the City and Westminster which created the area of London. The first subway was built in London in 1863. The main point of the capital is the Marble Arch which was originally constructed as an entrance to the Buckingham Palace, but it was never used. In this arch there is a tiny office which is now used as the police station. The opening of the Tower Bridge takes exactly 61 seconds! On average this bridge opens more than 1000 times a year . The Westminster Palace which is also known as the Houses of Parliament, has more than 1100 rooms, 100 ladders, and all of them unite 5 km of corridors (!). The interesting fact that in this huge building there are also available 19 bars and restaurants which are very popular among the deputies London is considered one of the most international cities of the world. According to some information in the capital people speak 300 languages. The city has five international airports. The other interesting fact that the most loaded airport of the world is Heathrow. The interesting fact that in London there are more than 100 theaters. Besides, more than 16% of restaurants of England are located on the territory of the capital.
