VI- RECITATION OF ENGLISH POETRY
The Camel
By Rudyard Kipling
The camel’s hump is an ugly lump
Which well you may see at the Zoo;
But uglier yet is the hump we get
From having too little to do.Kiddies and grown-ups too-oo-oo,
If we haven’t enough to do-oo-oo,
We get the hump –
Cameelious hump –
The hump that is black and blue!
The Frog
By Hilaire Belloc
Be kind and tender to the Frog,
And do not call him names,
As ‘Slimy Skin’ or ‘Polly-wog’,
Or likewise ‘Ugly James’
Or ‘Gape-a-grin’, or ‘Toad-gone-wrong’
Or ‘Billy Bandy-knees:
The Frog is justly sensitive
To epithets like these.Eletelephony
By Laura E. Richards
Once there was an elephant,
Who tried to use the telephant –
No! No! I mean an elephoneWho tried to use the telephone –
(Dear me! I am not certain quite
That even now I’ve got it right.)
Howe’er it was, he got his trunk
Entangled in the telephunkThe more he tried to get it free,
The louder buzzed the telephee(I fear I’d better drop the song
Of elephop and telephong!)Grizzly Bear
By Mary Austin
If you ever, ever, ever meet a grizzly bear,
You must never, never, never ask him where
He is going,
Or what he is doing,
For if you ever, ever dare
To stop a grizzly bear,
You will never meet another grizzly bear.
