The Tower Bridge Built in 1894 the Tower Bridge has become one of the symbols of London. Westminster Abbey Westminster Abbey is the ancient church. The oldest part of the building dates back to the 8th century. British kings, queens and other famous people are buried here. British monarchs are crowned in Westminster Abbey. BUCKINGHAM PALACE was built in 1830. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh have a suite of about 12 rooms on the first floor. The National Gallery is in Trafalgar Square Trafalgar Square is the geographical centre of London.It was named in memory of Admiral Nelson’s victory in the battle of Trafalgar in 1805. The tall Nelson’s Column stands in the middle of the square.The National Gallery was founded in1824.It has a fine collection of European paintings. WINDSOR CASTLE – an official residence of Her Majesty the Queen A plan of Windsor Castle The British Museum The British Museum is the biggest museum in London.It was founded in 1753.It has one of the world’s best collections of art and archaeological treasures.
