Methods of studying English with the help of Internet

Hello, dear guests and students. We’re students of the 8th form, Lyceum № 7. (names) Today we are glad to introduce our researching work to you. The theme of our work is Methods of learning English with the help of the Internet.
It is really actual nowadays. English is number 1 in the international communication and the Internet is a tool which can help us to study English.
The aim of our research is to explore ways of learning English with the help of the Internet.
The objectives are:
The first to Expand the concept of e-Learning
The second to Make a list of ways of learning English with the help of the Internet
The third to Conduct a survey of students of the 8th grade in Lyceum №7 of Chernyakhovsk to identify their attitude to the study of the English language by using the Internet
Our hypothesis sounds in this way: Students of 8 classes are interested in learning English through the Internet and tried to improve the language knowledge in this way.
Not so long a new term “e-learning” appeared in the modern world. The UNESCO experts gave to the term the following definition: e-learning - it’s a self-depending learning through the Internet and multimedia. E-learning - is an independent work with electronic materials, receiving the consultations from a teacher who is far away from you, the possibility of remote interaction, the creation of the user community, leading the overall virtual learning activities, the ability at any time and in any place to get modern knowledge available in any part of the world.
English is the most studied language in the world. It’s spoken by the biggest part of the world population, thereby this fact gives an opportunity for people from different countries to communicate with each other. And modern people don’t ask a question if we need to study English. Most people speak it!
The knowledge of English is important nowadays, after all it is necessary for a successful career. If you are an English-speaking specialist you have an opportunity to get information from foreign sources, you can get an international education, you’ll be able to have a great career and free communication with the whole world.
One must use advanced features of e-Learning for studying and improving English. We explored possibilities of the Net-learning English. In the Internet one can: find a great number of various web-sites for attending English lessons, converse with on-line language teacher, take part in different language contests and Olympiads, improve English by watching films, listening and learning songs by heart, using on-line translator, play computer games, read and write comments in foreign chats, read English e-books and different information, check one’s level of English knowledge with the help of various tests and so on.
We chose the most popular ways of studying and improving English among students. They are: web-sites, language contests and Olympiads, distance learning, on-line language teacher, computer games, on-line translator, training films and songs.
We conducted a survey of students of the 8th grade in our Lyceum to identify their relationship to the study of the English language by using the Internet.
We interviewed 53 students at the age of 13 and 15. Our survey has shown that the most popular methods are watching films and learning songs, studying language with the help of computer games and on-line translator. The least used method is distance learning.
Thus, we’ve proved our hypothesis because all the students use different tools of e-Learning to study English.
As a result, we’ve expanded the concept of e-Learning, made a list of ways of learning English with the help of the Internet, conducted a survey of students of the 8th grade to identify their attitude to the study of English language by using the Internet and proved our hypothesis.
This theme is very interesting for us and we are going to study it carefully further. Thank you for attention!
