Queen Elizabeth II Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926, and she was Queen in1952. She was twenty-five then. Today she is a grandmother. She is Queen of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. She visits these countries very often, and most people there want her to be queen. Once a year she opens Parliament, and once a week she talks to the Prime Minister – the most important man or woman in Parliament.The Prime Minister is much more important, but sometimes Elizabeth can help. The Queen is Head of the Church of England, so she talks to all the important churchmen and women – and today, she sometimes talks to the Pope. The Queen visits a lot of schools and hospitals, she opens new buildings, and she meets hundreds of children, doctors, teachers, and workers.No one is afraid of the Queen. She doesn’t tell people what to do. She is important because people like her, and want to have a Queen. Queen Elizabeth is also Queen of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and a lot of smaller countries. She often visits these countries and know a lot about them. Every Christmas she talks to their people on TV, and people in hottest Australia and coldest Canada sit and listen to her at the same time.
