Friends & Their Pastime By Shayderova Sonya & Julia Korneeva (8a) Tutor: Olga S. Shurpik Our Goal To find out what friendship is and what it means to the American and the Russian teenagers. Our Hypothesis Friendship is an universal conception. There is no difference what it means to the American or to the Russian teenagers. The only difference is how they spend their pastime together. Our Tasks To learn more about friendshipTo learn more about the differences of best friends’ pastime in Russia and AmericaTo make a research – to interview Russian and American students to find out the ways they spend their pastimeTo make a conclusion about all our findings What is friendship? Friendship is extremely important for every person because everyone needs communication and understanding. A friend is one with whom you spend your free time, share your thoughts and interests, who keeps your secrets, whom you trust and who is always ready to help. We’ve got a lot of friends. Some of them are close, some are not, but all of them make our lives brighter and more interesting. In our view friendship is a gift from God. We can’t imagine our lives without friends. As a proverb says, “Life without a friend is like death without a witness”. Best friends It’s not easy to make friends. It’s also very difficult to stay friends for years. You have to work at it. If you want to be a best friend you should think twice before you say or do something. You should mind your words and actions. You shouldn’t criticize anybody or be hypocritical even in thoughts. We have interviewed some of our American pen friends and pupils of our school with following questions: 1. How much time do you spend with your friends? a) 3-4 hours b) 6-8 hours c) all day 2.
