Fauna of AustraliaЛогинова Ольга АнатольевнаУчитель английского языкаГБОУ СОШ №180 г. Санкт-Петербург 2016г. This dragon lizard is covered with dinosaur-like scales which, surprisingly, are neither hard nor sharp. It lives in the arid regions of the western half of Australia, feeding solely on a diet of ants. Australian sea lions are the country’s most endangered marine mammal. At the only permanent mainland colony at Point Labatt in South Australia, they can be seen basking in the sun, lazing on the sand or simply riding the waves in search of fish. Dingos are a dog-like wolf. They have a long muzzle, erect ears and strong claws. They usually have a ginger coat and most have white markings on their feet, tail tip and chest. Their bushy tail is 25–37 cm long. Eastern grey kangaroos are common sight in the bushland of the coastal regions of New South Wales. The usually come down to the beach each evening to graze and play. The butterfly fish is a generally small sized species of marine fish, found in tropical and subtropical waters, primarily around coral reefs. A family of reef-dwelling tropical fishes with compressed bodies and small mouths and teeth is marked by dark lines through the eyes and near the tail. Emus are large flightless birds with strong, powerful legs and three toes on each foot. They have small wings and their body is covered with greyish-brown feathers. Emus have blueish skin on their faces and necks. Tasmanian Devils are Australia’s largest carnivorous marsupial and are about the same size as a large domestic cat. Their powerful jaws and teeth have the same crushing power as a dog four times their size. They are black in colour with a white band on the chest and have nearly-hairless, pink ears. The tail is 24–26 cm long. The Ghost Bat has a light grey, almost white, colouring and large long ears. The Ghost Bat’s wing span is up to 60 cm wide.Diet: It eats large insects, reptiles, frogs, birds, small mammals and, sometimes, other bat species. источникиhttp://perthzoo.wa.gov.au/
