Smolyaninovo is an urban village living to the rhythm of passing trains, is located in Shkotovsky area in the southern coast of Primorye.
Settlement Smolyaninovo was founded in 1926. Its name, the town and the station, received in 1930 in honour of the railway worker Nikolai Efimovich Smolyaninov who was killed by bandits.
The rapid development of the town began with the opening of the locomotive depot in 1937, which became the main enterprise in the future.
In April in the year 2009 Roundhouse Smolyaninovo converted into two businesses: Rework Roundhouse "Prymorskoye" and Operational depot as Structural Subdivision of the Far Eastern Railway-branch of Russian Railways. Today the population of Smolyaninovo consists of about 7000 people. There are two Secondary schools in Smolyaninovo № 27 and № 28. We study at Non-state boarding school № 28 that was built on the 1st of April in 1961. It was created for children of railway workers, who work the clock round. Our school is famous for its Ethnographic Museum that helps our pupils to learn the history, culture and traditions and customs of our town. It teaches to respect our past 5 In Smolyaninivo there is the Orthodox Christian Church of Tikhvin icon of the Virgin. The town held evangelization in order to raise the moral, spiritual, patriotic and cultural values. The new church was built in 2012.
There is a monument in Smolyaninovo. The monument is devoted to the soldiers who died during the World War II.
Smolyaninovo is also a military post. Young men from all over the country serve here. Soldiers of different nationalities take part in concerts and competition dedicated to Day of the Defender of Motherland and tell about their life style. In the center of Smolyaninovo there is an Administration Building. Local authorities are trying to do their best to modernize our town.
A new modern two-storied supermarket has been recently built. We can buy here everything we need: clothes, food, and grocery. There is also a pet shop, a dental office and a restaurant there.
Snack-bars offer to taste refined and exotic Chinese, Korean and Japanese dishes. We live an interesting cultural and social life full of varied events. The house of Culture opens its doors for children and their parents. Different interesting and fascinating music, painting, dancing and even English lessons are offered there for children. Art exhibitions, circus, music and dzhiuzhitsu performances are regular here.
The nature has given to our town more than generous gifts. Its beautiful valleys and hills, rivers and lakes make our life happy and comfortable. Coastal water of the Sea of Japan is rich in fish including salmon, trepangs, crabs, shell-fish, and many others. In summer it often rains. When it’s hot flowers, mushrooms and berries make an unbelievable carpet in the forest. Winters are often snowy and frosty. Railway transport is very important for the development of the Far East. Very interesting are the projects to build free economic zones in the area of Vladivostok and Nakhodka.
All these measures need an appropriate transportation including sea, air and railway communication between Primorye and business centers of Japan, the Republic of Korea, western coast of the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. We are proud of our people, teachers and doctors, soldiers and veterans, railway workers and engineers who are the highest wealth of our town. Our creative engineers and hardworking machinists are able to solve any task and provide the incessant operation of the railway
We are curious and intelligent, industrious and responsible, famous and infamous, friendly and loving. We are different but we are a close family. We are proud of our home very much!
