Magic through Harry Potter I often meet elves and trolls and other creatures in different films and books. And I had a question: “What creatures from books about Harry Potter can I find in literature works?”As a result I have a theme of researching “Magic creatures through Harry Potter” Aim : -to find the creatures that we can meet not only in Harry Potter books Object of my researching : literature.Subject of researching : books about Harry Potter. I made a research and found out:We can meet some creatures in different mythology. There are some creatures that appeared only in Joan Rowling’s books. There are some creatures we can find in mythology of different countries and in Harry Potter’s books. Basilisk In Greek language «basilisk» means «small king». In ancient time it was a small snake with white sign on the head and famous for its deadly poison and ability of moving with raised head. In books about Harry Potter Basilisk is a huge snake killing with its sight . Nicolas Flamel and the philosopher’s stone. The philosopher’s stone is a alchemical substance capable of turning metals into gold. It is also able to extend one’s life and called the elixir of life.Nicolas Flamel was an alchemist who had discovered the philosopher’s stone In the first book Professor Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel invented the stone. Mandragorais a plant. It is looked like a man. In the book mandragora is used for treatment people and animals that were victims of basilisk’s spell. Phoenix Phoenix is a mythological bird that can burn itself and born again. It looks like a red eagle. Before dying it burns itself and a nestling appears in the ash. In the book it is Dumbledore's bird that can treat with its tears. Elves In the books elves are magic creatures that have magic power and help about the house. Pixie are small creatures from English mythology. They are very naughty but friendly. They steal horses.Pixie In the Rowling’s works they are dangerous creatures because of their jokes. They are ugly and very big creatures born from the rock. Trolls eat meat( often people). They live alone in the forests.Trolls In the Harry Potter’s world a troll was a cause of a lot of troubles when it came in Hogwarts.
