My hometown visitors’ guideI live in Azov. This town is very little, but there are many different beautiful places which have their own history and can attract many tourists. I would to tell you about them. Azov Museum of local loreAzov Museum is the largest in the South of Russia. There are more than 320 thousand exhibits on its square ( 78 thousand square meters). There are exhibits whose age makes up about 250 million years. The Museum has the richest paleontological collection on all the South of Russia. Our museum is famous not only in Russia, but and abroad. The most interesting and unusual exhibit of our Museum is unique, the only in the world skeleton of mammoth steppe, which lived there many thousands years ago. At first it was been taking by Cossacks, but then by the strelets of Peter the Great. Turkish fortress was destroyed in the middle of the 18 century, so it doesn’t have no buildings. Only one fragment of the fortress wall remained.Turkish Fortress The powder is the only monument of military-engineering art of the time of Catherine II in Russia. Until 1797 Powder was intended for storage of cores and barrels of gunpowder. Later it was built from red bricks.
