Task 2
We speak English mostly at the lessons of English during the school year, on line at home after lessons, communicate with foreigners during our vocations in the streets or cities and resorts in summer. We speak usually about weather, friends, music, fashion, politics, ecology, our pets, hobbies, what is on, how to get somewhere and so on. But there are some “taboos” in my culture.
It is impolite to ask questions about privacy, for example ‘’How much money do you earn?” It isn’t polite to ask questions like ”How much do you weight?” or “Why aren’t you married?” We don’t speak about religious beliefs. We can’t say that you want to burp. If you can not stop a burp from bursting out, then cover your mouth with your hand and say ‘excuse me’ afterwards. What do you do if you want to pass wind? Don’t say anything, go somewhere private and let it out. If you accidently pass wind in company say ‘pardon me’
Task3
There are many ways to talk about future plans in English and often we can say the same things in different ways. For example,
I am going to study German this year. ( I express a personal intention)
I will study German twice a week.(with willplus the infinitive of a verb I can express: a future fact, an opinion about the future, a probability, a promise)
I am having German twice a week. ( We can use Present Continuous for planned or personally scheduled events.
German begins in a day. (We use Present Simple when we are thinking of the certain future, something already arranged as in a time table).
Task 4
Have you been to Ufa? Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan, has a lot of places of interest.
When you arrive in Ufa by train or boat, the first thing you see is the monument to the national hero, SalavatYulayev, which is on the right bank of the River Aghidel. It was erected in 1967 to honour him, and is a very beautiful statue. People come to this area of the city every day to relax and enjoy the views of forests, lakes and fields on the other side of the river.
The Hotel Bashkiria in Lenin Street also has a great history. Many famous people such as polititions, writers and thinkers from all over the Soviet Union stayed here during the Second World War. The international group known as the Komintern was also based in the hotel. Nearby, in the central post office building, the Komintern had a radio station that broadcast news about the war, along with patriotic messages to citizens and appeals for help, which were broadcast in many different European languages.
The Republican Drama Theaterin Ufa was founded in 1919. It is one of the professional theaters in Bashkortostan. The Theatre put on all sorts of productions, including classical, modern, Bashkir and foreign works.
There are many museums in Bashkortostan. Among them is the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan, which is owned by the state. The museum set up to honour famous people can be found in towns and villages all over the republic.
Task 5
One evening at a dinner table, my Mum says to my Dad, “When we were first married, you took the small piece of steak and gave me the larger. Now you take the large one and leave me the smaller. You don’t love me more…”So I express my supposition, ”Mum, it’s because Dad doesn’t love you any more”. So do you know what my father says?
“Nonsense, darling,” replies my father, “you just cook better now”. I felt like a complete idiot!
