Aim: to develop students` reading comprehension
Objectives: By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
Get familiar with the main heroes of the story
Find the main idea of the story
Work with the story text and analyze and change it, create their own stories
Type of the lesson: focusing on reading
Literature: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
Content: The lesson contains pre, while and post- reading activities and games.
Materials: home reading book, blackboard, cards, box
Organizational moment: The teacher starts the lesson from greetings and warm-up activity. The further tasks are based on the story.
Warm-up:
Have you ever read the medieval stories?
Anticipation: the teacher gives the students sheets of anticipation guide paper with five questions in it: Who? What? When? Where? Why? How?
Presentation:
Pre-reading
Look through the story and choose five words that are new for you. Write them in your vocabulary notebooks.
(The teacher presents new words with the help of pictures, translates where it is needed and explains the meaning of words through the context)
Reading
Read the story carefully and be ready to work with it.
Practice:

Remembering Q: Who are the main characters of the story?
T: Tell the names of all the characters mentioned in the story
Understanding Q: What were the conditions of the “game”?
Determine the rules of the “game” proposed by green knight.
Applying Q: What would you do if you were in the place of Sir Gawain?
T: Modify the situation- imagine you were the Sir Gawain: Would you be as brave as he was?
Analyzing Q: What do Sir Gawain and Green Knight have in common?
T: Compare and contrast Sir Gawain and Green Knight.

Evaluating Q: What do you think the role of honesty in our lives?

Students should answer the teacher`s questions that begin with different words-questions.
Students should make questions (Why did Gawain not give the belt?) starting from the questions they pick up from the box (Why?)
