Teacher: Dear friends! Nice to see you. Today we are going to have a lesson-concert “The Beatles Forever”. Our students will perform their 10 favourite songs by the Beatles. The fact is that singing the “Beatles” is a hobby for our students and it is already a traditional at parties. These songs are beautiful, so it will be useful and interesting for you to listen to them, to sing the songs with us.
P1: Dear guests! Look at the blackboard! Here you can see photos, postcards, pictures, posters, devoted to the “Beatles”. The drawings are made by our hands. So, you see we are fond of singing and drawing as well. We also collect books about the “Beatles”.
P2: For us the “Beatles” are forever ! The “Beatles” unite the people of different generations and different ages, because their music is wonderful, kind and exciting.
Развитие навыков произношения и аудирования.
Teacher: We’ll start our lesson with the song “Hey, Jude”. It is devoted to John Lennon’s elder son Julian Lennon who is also a musician. This is my favourite song and I used to sing it when I was a student.
P1-P4 (singing):
Hey Jude, don't make it badTake a sad song and make it betterRemember to let her into your heartThen you can start to make it betterHey Jude, don't be afraidYou were made to go out and get herThe minute you let her under your skinThen you begin to make it betterAnd anytime you feel the painHey Jude refrainDon't carry the world upon your shouldersFor well you know that it's a foolWho plays it coolBy making his world a little colderHey Jude don't let me downYou have found her, now go and get herRemember to let get into your heartThen you can start to make it betterSo let it out and let it inHey Jude beginYou're waiting for someone to perform withAnd don't you know that it's just youHey Jude, you'll doThe movement you need is on your shoulder
Teacher: John Lennon’s song “Norwegian Wood” is a real surprise for you thanks to its unusual melody and surrealistic rhymes. The main character is in despair because of his girl’s leaving.
P1, P2 (singing):
I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me...She showed me her room, isn't it good, Norwegian wood? She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair.I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine.We talked until two and then she said, "It's time for bed"
She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh.I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bathAnd when I awoke, I was alone, this bird had flownSo I lit a fire, isn't it good, Norwegian wood?
Teacher: The song “Because” is very lyrical and gentle. It is one of John Lennon’s compositions, made by him when Joko Ono (his wife) was playing the piano from Betchoven.
P1, P2 (singing):
Because the world is round it turns me onBecause the world is round...aaaaaahhhhhhBecause the wind is high it blows my mindBecause the wind is high......aaaaaaaahhhhLove is all, love is new
Love is all, love is youBecause the sky is blue, it makes me cryBecause the sky is blue.......aaaaaaaahhhhAaaaahhhhhhhhhh....
Teacher: The song “Yellow Submarine” is very popular thanks to the cartoon film “Yellow Submarine” in which the Beatles fight against the pointed monsters with the help of their music, love and justice.
P1- P9 (singing):
In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life
In the land of submarines
So we sailed up to the sun
Till we found the sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
In our yellow submarine
We all live in our yellow submarine (3).
And our friends are all on board
Many more of them live next door
And the band begins to play
We all live in our yellow submarine (3).
As we live a life of ease
Everyone of us has all we need
Sky of blue and sea of green
In our yellow submarine. We all live in our yellow submarine (3).
Teacher: The popular song “Yesterday” by Paul McCartney is a lyrical ballad. It is performed in thousand versions by other singers and became the national pride of the English people.
P10 (singing):
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far awayNow it looks as though they’re here to stayOh, I believe in yesterday.Suddenly, I’m not half the man I used to be,There’s a shadow hanging over me.Oh, yesterday came suddenly.
Why she had to go I don’t know she wouldn’t say.I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday.Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play. Now I need a place to hide away.Oh, I believe in yesterday.Mm mm mm mm mm.Teacher: A splendid song “When I am 64” is made in the style of marriage advertisement, when the young couple ask questions to each other. We want to show you our version of this song. It’s devoted to Paul McCartney’s parents.
P10-P15 (singing):
When I get older losing my hair, Many years from now. Will you still be sending me a ValentineBirthday greetings bottle of wine.If I'd been out till quarter to threeWould you lock the door,Will you still need me, will you still feed me,When I'm sixty-four.You'll be older too, and it you say the word,I could stay with you.I could be hardy, mending a fuseWhen your lights have gone. You can knit a sweater by the fire sideSunday mornings go for a ride.Doing the garden, digging the weeds,Who could ask for more. Will you still need me, will you still feed me,When I'm sixty-four.Teacher: The composition by George Harrison “While my guitar gently weeps” is the best in the Album “The Beatles”.
P1, P2 (singing):
I look at you and see the love there that's sleepingWhile my guitar gently weeps.I look at the floor and I see it needs sweepingStill my guitar gently weeps.I don't know why nobody told you how to unfold your loveI don't know how someone controlled youThey bought and sold you.I look at the world and I notice it's turningWhile my guitar gently weepsWith every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps.Teacher: John Lennon’s song “In my Life” is about his youth in Liverpool and it sounds so nostalgically.
P1, P2 (singing):
There are places I’ll remember All my life, though some have changed Some forever, not for better, Some have gone, but some remain. All these places had their moments, With lovers and friends, I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life
I've loved them all. But of all these friends and lovers, There is no one compares with you. And these memories lose their meaning.
When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them, In my life, I’ll love you more .
Teacher: The whole world was shattered by the tragic death of John Lennon in 1980 and the lost of a remarkable man, but he left behind the great heritage.
P1, P2 (singing):
Imagine
Imagine there's no heavenIt's easy if you tryNo Hell below usAbove us only sky.
Imagine all the peopleLiving for todayImagine, there's no countriesIt isn't hard to do.
Nothing to kill or die forAnd no religion tooImagine all the peopleLiving life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamerBut I'm not the only oneI hope someday you’ll join usAnd the world will be one.
Imagine no possessions,I wonder if you can.No need for greed or hungerA brotherhood of man.
Imagine all the peopleSharing all the world…
