Piglet ( running about the room):
I know I’ve forgotten something, since very small animals have very short memories. I must have forgotten to remember something. Have I forgotten to water the flowers? No. Have I forgotten to wash the floor? No. Since I’ve remembered everything , there is one thing I couldn’t forget. It must be Pooh’s birthday. Oh, Dear! It must be today.(goes out) And who can help me plan Pooh’s birthday. Perhaps Rabbit can help me plan it.
Tigger: (running towards Piglet)
A fine day we are having today.
Piglet: Really.
Rabbit: (going slowly) What excellent weather it is today!
Piglet: Actually. I’ve remembered something very, very important and I need your help.
Rabbit: What is it, Piglet!
Piglet: You see today, by which I mean yesterday, is Pooh’s birthday.
Rabbit: You’re right. Today must be the day. This is extraordinary. We have to prepare a party immediately.
Tigger: And a birthday cake.
Piglet: May be a few balloons?
Tigger: And a birthday cake.
Rabbit: Perhaps some games?
Tigger: And...
Rabbit: Yes, Tigger, and a birthday cake. Oh, Dear, but we don’t have any candles.
( They go out to look for candles)
Piglet: (appears with a cake and candles): For a very small animal I have a large number of candles. It’s great that I’m afraid of darkness.
Rabbit: I have been collecting these candles since my childhood.
Tigger: Nice candles for a nice Pooh’s birthday cake.
Rabbit: One birthday cake for a birthday Pooh.
( They put a lot of candles on the cake)
Tigger: I know that the Bear is having a birthday but I didn’t know that he was having so many.
Rabbit: With all these candles it turns out that our friend is much older than we thought.
Tigger: If Pooh is much older than we thought, he must be much smarter too.
Rabbit: No, no, Tigger, we mustn’t rush to conclusions.
Piglet: Pooh will be surprised to learn that he is so old.
Rabbit: He will be more surprised to find out that he is so smart.
( The three of them come to Pooh’s place)
Altogether: Surprise.
Pooh: My, this is a surprise. Whose birthday cake is it?
Piglet: Yours. We’ve brought you this birthday cake with so many candles because
I’ve remembered that I think I forget that today is your birthday.
Pooh: (looking at the cake) Am I so old?
Tigger: You really are. Don’t you see all these candles here?
Rabbit: You are not only much older than you thought but much smarter too.
Pooh: Really?
Rabbit: And if you are so smart you should help me with some gardening questions.
Tigger: Can you tell me the way I have to…
Piglet: No, no, my question’s first.
Pooh: (cries) Stop, stop, stop! I can’t use my intelligence until I eat this cake.
Piglet: But you can’t eat this cake until we blow out the candles.
Rabbit: But you can’t blow out the candles until we sing you a birthday song.
(Rabbit, Piglet and Tigger sing a song to Pooh)
