Задачи: 1. развитие коммуникативных навыков учащихся. 2. Развитие навыков аудирования. 3. Активизация лексико-грамматических навыков и навыков письма путем использования современных образовательных технологий.
Класс: 8
Учитель: Гайдук Татьяна Анатольевна
Оборудование: мультимедиа проектор, экран, карточки со словами для физ.минутки, персональные компьютеры для прохождения теста в программе Excel.
Ход урока:
Teacher: Good afternoon, dear boys and girls. Before we start our lesson I suggest you to guess my riddles. На слайде изображено зашифрованное слово, которое спрятано за квадратиками. (По типу игры «Поле чудес»)
Teacher: First riddle: What is a living creature, not a plant that has senses and is able to move itself when it wants to? (slide 2)
Teacher: I can open you 3 squares. So, what is it?
Pupils: It is “animal”.
Teacher: Right. The second riddle: What is a large area of land thickly covered with trees and bushes? (slide 3)
Pupils: It is “forest”.
Teacher: Excellent! The third riddle: What is a living thing that has leaves and roots, and grows usually in earth, especially the kind smaller than trees? (slide 4)
Pupils: It is “plant”.
Teacher: Well done. And the last riddle: What are the natural conditions, such as air, water, and land, in which people, animals, and plants live? (slide 5)
Teacher: As the word has eleven letters I can open 4 squares. So, what is it?
Pupils: It is “environment”
Teacher: Right. So let’s start our lesson that is devoted to the environment. Now look at the screen. There are several words. Let’s read them.
Pupils read the words.
Teacher: Very good. And now make up as many phrases as possible using the words in the box. Translate them. (slide 6)
Example: waste paper
Таблица 1
Pollute pollution waste protect protection protective
antipollution nuclear sea problems law clothing
chemical environmental research environment air of
Teacher: There are some of the world’s most serious environmental problems. (slide 7) And it’s no good pretending they don’t exist – they do. What’s more they are getting worse all the time. Tell me please, what environmental problems do you know?
Pupil 1: Many species of animals and birds have disappeared. Millions of animals die every year because man has polluted their natural homes.
Pupil 2: Besides, every year people cut down more trees, build more roads, and use more land for farming. This leaves fewer jungles, fields and forests for wildlife.
Pupil 3: The country air, once clean and fresh, now may be polluted by power stations and factories. Some of our rivers are now empty of fish. And in some rivers you can even see a thick foam caused by chemical waste.
Pupil 4: All over the world the forests are disappearing. People cut the trees down because they need wood and paper or new places for farms and houses.
Pupil 5: Forests the size of Belgium are destroyed every year. It’s an international disaster. Even if new trees are planted, it takes many years for them to grow.
Pupil 6: We live among litter and wastes which we have created ourselves – fumes of cars, throwaway packaging. People don’t just pollute themselves with cigarettes, alcohol and junk food.
Teacher: Fine. Now I want to show you a video clip. (slide 8) In southern Europe two of several problems reach cataclysmic proportions. Look at the screen.
Видеофрагмент (1:22)
Teacher: So, what problems are in southern Europe?
Pupils: The most serious pollution occurs in areas with large cities and many factories. There is a lot of litter on the beaches. Some of it was left by people and some was brought by the water. Pollution is very dangerous for people, wildlife and the environment.
Pupils: Erosion can be very harmful to farmland. Crops depend on rich soil for healthy growth. But this top layer of soil is thin. Wind and flowing water can sweep it away.
Teacher: You are right. Well done. And now let’s play a game. I give you several cards. Your task is to put the words into the right order to make a sentence and translate it. You should stand in a row holding the cards. Then read the whole sentence and translate it. (slide 9) - физ.минутка
● fishes /don’t / many/ so/ animals/ kill/ and / birds. (Don’t kill so many animals, birds and fishes.)
● think/ before/ away/ you/ anything/ stop/ and/ throw. (Before you throw anything away, stop and think).
● poisonous/ stop/ gases/ using. (Stop using poisonous gases.)
● up/ local/ help/ to/ environment/ clean. (Help to clean up local environment.)
● pollution/ is/ people/ for/ and/ environmental/ dangerous/ very/ wildlife. (Environmental pollution is very dangerous for people and wildlife.)
Teacher: Very good. Thank you. Take your seats. And now let’s revise our grammar. At the previous lessons we spoke about the definite article. So, answer my question. When do we use the article “the”?
Pupils: We use “the” with the names of oceans, rivers, seas, channels and lakes. But no article in the names with the word “Lake”. We use it in the names with “REPUBLIC”, “FEDERATION”, “STATE”, and “KINGDOM”. We use “the” with the mountain chains, with the group of islands.
Teacher: Fine. In what situations we don’t use any article?
Pupils: We don’t use any article with the names of continents, countries, mountains, islands.
Teacher: Now look at the screen and let’s do the exercise. (slide 10)
Teacher: Well done. Now I ask you to take your seats at the computers and do the test. (Test at the Excel programme “the definite article”).
Pupils do the test for several minutes.
Teacher: Well done. Let’s check your results. Very good. One of our pupils did the project about environmental problems in our village Yar-Sale. Let’s watch and listen.
The pupil tells her report.
Pupil: There are some environmental problems in our region. I had research in our village Yar-Sale. What did I get to know? First, there is a lot of litter in the streets. We live among litter. We create it ourselves. Second, many adults and children smoke. They pollute themselves with cigarettes. Schoolchildren eat junk food. It is chips, chocolate bars, Coke-Cola, etc. There are some electric power stations in Yar-Sale. Smoke from electric power stations, cars, smokestacks send large quantities of smoke into the air. It is dangerous for people’s health. I came to some conclusions. People must give up smoking, go in for sports and help to clean up our local environment.
Teacher: Well done. Thank you. Take your seat.
Teacher: What can you tell me in conclusion of our lesson about the environmental pollution?
Pupils: 1) Before you throw anything away, stop and think. 2) Don’t kill so many animals, birds and fishes. 3) Help to clean up local environment. 4) Never drop litter. 5) Stop using poisonous gases. 6) Don’t cut down forests. 7) Don’t waste paper. 8) Environmental pollution is very dangerous for people and wildlife. 9) Protect our environment from pollution, etc.
Teacher: Very good. Now open your diaries to write down your home assignments. You should write a few sentences about the environmental problems in our region. Your marks are… The lesson is over. Good bye.
