DO SCHOOLS PUT TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON CHILDREN? Nowadays, a person spends 12 years or more at school. Some people say that children are overwhelmed with home tasks and projects. Others think that it is very important to be well-educated in a competitive world in order to get a better job or position. I strongly believe that children often suffer from school stress and do not know how to deal with it.
Firstly, I want to point out that parents as well as teachers have high expectations about children and children in their turn try to fulfill them. When children fail, they often feel sad and frustrated, because they think they are losers. Moreover, in my opinion children have too much homework, tests, extra classes and tuitions. As a result, they forget to enjoy the small pleasure of life like playing football just for fun, enjoying nature, meeting friends and relatives, they do not know how to relax.
However, some people are concerned that with busy schedules children do not have time to think about cigarettes, alcohol and drugs.
I cannot agree with this point of view, because when children suffer from stress they tend to smoke, drink or use drugs more often.
All in all, stress is a big problem which should not been ignored. It can be harmful for children and cause different physical and mental diseases. Parents and teachers should understand it and try to make children’s life at school more enjoyable and easy.
